Childhood
The future preacher was born at the end of the 19th century - on the first day of September 1896. At the birth of the boy, he was named Abhay Charan De. The title of Prabhupada was given to him later. This means that the followers took refuge at the "feet of the lord."
The family lived in Calcutta. Abhay's husband, wife, son often visited the Radha-Govinda temple. This sacred building was located near their home.
Personal life
Srila Prabhupada got married at the age of 22. Eleven-year-old Radharani became his chosen one. The clan of the girl also supported the Vishnu religion - which is a direction of Hinduism. Therefore, the father of the future preacher arranged the wedding of his son with Radharani.
Then the young wife gave her husband two daughters and two sons.
Career
Srila received a decent education from Scottish Church College. But when all that remains is to get a diploma, Abhay refuses this document as a sign of support for the Gandhi movement.
Then the young man got a job at a pharmaceutical company with an acquaintance.
One day Abhay and his friends met with a guru. He asked why young people do not widely preach the traditions of Vaishnavism? To this Srila replied that India is colonial and no one will take such reasoning from a Third World country seriously. To this, the Guru replied that political regimes are victims of time, that this is not forever.
Abhay agreed with this, and in 1933 he accepted spiritual enlightenment, took a different name.
Great preacher
When Srila Prabhupada turned 58, he left his family, leads a monastic life, studies the scriptures.
At the age of 69, Srila gets on a freight steamer and travels to Boston. Then he got to New York and started preaching.
Prabhupada tells people about his religion, tries to sell books on these topics. But the first experience was not very successful, as the preacher acted alone.
In July 1966, Srila registered his organization in New York, which became the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Srila Prabhupada tried to convey to people such truths as the prohibition of meat-eating, intoxication, extramarital affairs, gambling. And they began to listen to him.
Then the preacher also visited Russia. This happened in 1971. Although Srila was in our country for only 3 days, he was able to find followers of his teachings here as well.
Thus, Prabhupada made a great contribution to the propaganda of Krishna views throughout the world.
The famous preacher of Vaishnu teachings traveled with his great purpose, despite his illness. He lived to be 81 years old, having managed to leave many followers on earth.
