In 1996, the hit of the singer Jessica Jay Casablanca was not inferior to the famous composition It's my life, Macarena. The song sounded everywhere. The audience was also captivated by the album of the vocalist Broken Hearted Woman. But little is known about the performer herself: Jessica Jay occupies one of the first places in the list of secrets of the nineties.

A pleasant voice, lightness and "airiness" of music - these are the features that characterize the work of Jessica J. However, few people know that the project served as a prototype for the notorious domestic group "Mirage".

A new star is born

The story began with the singer Valerie Dore, promoted by Italian producers. Few people knew that behind one of the leading performers of Italian disco were two vocalists, Monica Stucchi and Dora Carofiglio.

Dora was a soloist in the Novecento group and sang, and Monica got to visualize the image of the pop star of the project at concerts and album covers. In the songs of Jessica Jay, two voices were often heard: the strong one, Dora, who easily performed rather complex parts, and therefore became the performer of the famous hit, and the backing vocals of Monica.

The producers focused the composition on the Asian audience, since the manner of performance and voice of Dora Carofiglio perfectly fit into the generally accepted standards there.

Success

In 1993, Broken Hearted Woman sold a million copies in Thailand. In the rest of Asia, over 500,000 records have been sold. The success turned out to be such that local singers made cover versions. Popularity helped in 196 to win the love of listeners to Jessica's album of the same name.

Despite its focus on Asia, Casablanca became a hit in the Old World, CIS countries and Latin America. Almost at the same time, Laura Fadzhotto, who introduced herself as Jessica J, began performing on behalf of the singer in Russia. In 1998 the project was represented by several vocalists of the production center "Saifam", who took part in the recording of songs for the new compilation Chilly Cha Cha. At the same time, Dora Carofiglio left the project.

The album includes several covers of hits by Spice Girls, C. C. Catch and Sandra. The distinctive feature is the characteristic sound "from Nicolosi" and the disco style. Fans nevertheless noticed that the disc lost its individuality due to the absence of Dora.

Before and after glory

The creators continued to use the Jessica Jay brand in the hope that the search for a real performer would stop. At that time, Dora Carofiglio was planning to continue her musical career. The vocalist decided to take part in the recording of a song for Asia, although in this region, Dora was not known to anyone as a singer. The success exceeded all the producers' expectations.

In 2008, a new replacement took place. Melody Castellari performed under the name Jessica Jay for the album "My heart is back". Music lovers have noticed this. The Saifam center was asked questions about the Casablanca performer, but there was only one answer: the cooperation with her was over.

Nevertheless, no matter how controversial the project was, it presented the listeners with a lot of high-quality compositions. And the luxurious album Broken Hearted Woman deserves attention, because real talent always remains outside the time frame.
