The future writer was born in 1952, on March 23, in Waukegan, Illinois. When he was 3 years old, the family moved to Southern California, where Robinson spent his childhood and adolescence. Career
Kim Robinson began writing his first works in 1984. Icehange tells readers about the 2248 Martian Revolution. Despite the fact that the events in the book begin in the 23rd century, it was this story that served as the starting point for the creation of the most significant creation of Robinson - "The Martian Trilogy".
The story of the first part begins in 2026 with the sending of the first scientists to the red planet and continues for 220 years. The titles of each of the volumes correspond to the degree of colonization of the planet: "Red Mars", "Green Mars" and "Blue Mars". According to the writer Arthur Clarke, the Robinson series is the best work on planetary colonization and is a must-read for the scientists of the future. Later, the already famous writer creates an addition to the Trilogy called "The Martians". This is a collection of short stories, the heroes of which were most often the characters from the Trilogy.
The work of Kim Robinson, which is not related to the theme of planetary colonization, is worth mentioning separately. The novel "Antarctica" was warmly received by the audience and critics. In it, the writer raises environmental, political and social issues, and also recalls the delicate balance in nature, for the maintenance of which humanity is responsible. The novel 2312, which won the Nebula Prize in 2002, is about the immutability of human nature. Treachery, intrigue and betrayal did not disappear in 2312.
Now the writer is working on a new novel, which he promises to finish in 2020. Traditionally, Kim Robinson does not disclose what his new work expected by the writer's fans will be about.
Personal life
In 1981, Kim met Lisa Novell, who at that time worked in a scientific group dealing with the problems of chemical pollution of nature. A year later, they got married. The couple had 2 sons, the first in 1984, and the second in 1989. From the memoirs of the writer himself, most often it was he who had to sit with the children, since his wife's work was associated with regular departures. At the moment he lives in California, in the small town of Davis. Despite his age, he is a big fan of mountaineering. Readers can trace references to this hobby in some of his works.
