In the early eighties of the last century, the Soviet-Hungarian two-part television film "Vacation at Own Account" gained immense popularity in the Union. One of the key roles was played by the film actor Miklos Kalochai. He played the romantic Hungarian Laszlo, who fell head over heels in love with the main character - the provincial Catherine. In this image, Kalochai, of course, was remembered by many Soviet TV viewers.
early years
Miklos Kalochai was born in Budapest on April 17, 1950. Even as a child, he wanted to become an artist, and therefore, after school, he entered the Moscow Academy of Theater Arts (today it is called the Academy of Theater and Cinema). It was here that Miklos met his first great love - Erzhibet Kutveldi. They played together in Shakespeare's graduation show “Romeo and Juliet”, they were considered a very beautiful couple. However, Erzhibet and Miklos never got married (in particular, because Miklos's mother was against it).
In 1971, Kalochai first appeared in a movie - in Gyula Maar's film Press.
In 1973 Miklos graduated from the Academy and got a job at the Imre Madach Theater. He appeared on the stage of this theater for seven whole years - until 1980. At the same time, in parallel, Miklos Kalochai starred in Hungarian films, which made him quite famous in his country.
Participation in the painting "Vacation at your own expense"
In 1981 he was invited to star in the Soviet-Hungarian film "Vacation at Own Account" (directed by Viktor Titov). Here he played Laszlo, an intelligent and charming Hungarian chauffeur testing new Icarus. Laszlo, according to the plot, falls in love with a Russian girl Katya, who took a vacation at her own expense and came to Hungary …
It should be noted that, in addition to Miklos, Victoria Baiza starred in this film (she appeared here in the form of the "fatal beauty" Magda). It is worth noting that even before filming, Victoria and Miklos formalized their relationship, that is, they became husband and wife. This marriage turned out to be childless (although Miklos really wanted to become a father) and ended in divorce in 1988.
For the first time "Vacation at own expense" was shown in the USSR in January 1982 - on the "First program of the Central Television". In addition, later this film was released by the Union on videotapes. As a result, the charismatic actor had fans all over the USSR.
The life of an actor from 1982 to 1991
From 1982 to 1989 Miklos worked at the National Theater in Budapest. Once at a rehearsal, a beautiful student, Helga Kolti, caught his attention. Soon Miklos began an affair with her, and she gave birth to a boy from him, who was named Krzysztof. It was for the sake of Helga and their common child that Miklos left his legal wife Victoria and left Budapest for Szeged. Here he became a member of the Independent Stage troupe, which was directed by József Rust. Miklos has been involved in experimental productions of this troupe, for example, he played Gloucester in King Lear and Lucifer in a play based on the play by Imre Madaca, The Tragedy of Man.
However, the theater in Szeged soon ceased to exist due to changes in the country - the last performance of Miklos Kalochai as a member of the "Independent Stage" took place on October 7, 1991.
After that Miklos and Helga moved to Budapest, that is, he returned to his parents' house. And already on December 2, 1991, the talented actor died. The cause of his death, according to Helga Colti, was a heart attack.
