Biography

Sergei Kirienko was born at the end of July 1962, in the family of a professor of philosophy and an economist. At the time of the boy's birth, his parents lived in Sukhumi, but soon moved to Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). When Seryozha was in the 3rd grade, his parents decided to leave. The father stayed in Gorky, and the mother moved with her son to Sochi. Kiriyenko graduated from high school there, but, having received a certificate, moved to his father, entered the Gorky Institute of Transport Engineers, where his dad Vladilen Yakovlevich taught.

After graduating from the university, Sergey was offered a postgraduate study, but he chose a job in his specialty at the plant. In 1984, he was drafted into the ranks of the SA for military service, spent two years in the air force on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR, near the city of Nikolaev, was the platoon commander. During the same period of his life, Kiriyenko became a member of the CPSU. Interestingly, even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, he continued to keep his party card.

Kirienko and Yeltsin

Sergey Vladilenovich began his labor activity in 1986, as a simple foreman of the site. Already 4 years later, in 1990, he was elected a deputy of the regional council, and after another 7 years he was appointed Minister of Fuel and Energy of the Russian Federation. At the age of 35, Kiriyenko took such a high position, became one of the youngest Russian ministers in the entire history of the country. And it was Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin who contributed to such a rapid advancement of the young manager.

A year after being appointed minister, Kiriyenko was entrusted with the post of head of government, which he held for several months. The State Duma was categorically against such an appointment, but Yeltsin again and again put forward his candidacy. He argued his decision with the qualities of a young manager: “even, tough, consistent”.

Kiriyenko's resignation as head of the Government took place in August. Sergey Vladilenovich accepted her with understanding. He was replaced at the post by Primakov. The former prime minister did not abandon his political career, remained a State Duma deputy, ran for mayor of Moscow, and took second place in the voting.

Rosatom and the Presidential Administration

In mid-November 2005, Kiriyenko was entrusted with the leadership of the Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency. Two years later, the department was reorganized, more than 300 enterprises, institutes and departments dealing with nuclear technologies moved under its "wing". Sergei Vladilenovich became the head of a new holding company called Rosatom.

In the course of his tenure as head of Rosatom, Kiriyenko managed to significantly reduce the cost of electricity generated at nuclear power plants, to increase the utilization rate of enterprises and their capacities, but soon there were complaints about his work. He was accused of ineffective use of budget funds. As a result, in 2016, Sergei Vladilenovich left the post of head of Rosatom, but remained the chairman of the corporation's supervisory board.

In October 2016, Kiriyenko was appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. At the moment, he has been overseeing domestic politics in Russia for three years. According to some experts, it was Kiriyenko who provided invaluable support to his longtime friend Vladimir Putin in the presidential elections in 2018, but what exactly it was expressed in was not announced.

For his work and social activities, Kiriyenko was awarded more than once. He is the owner of the Orders of Honor (Armenia), Daniila of Moscow, Sergius of Radonezh, Seraphim of Sarov (1st and 2nd degrees), For Merit to the Fatherland, Anatoly Koni's medals, several certificates of honor from the President of the Russian Federation. In 2018, information appeared in the media that Kiriyenko was awarded the title of Hero of Russia, but no one from the government began to officially confirm it.

Personal life

Next to Sergei Vladilenovich all his life there is only one woman - Maria Vladislavovna, nee Aistova. He met her back in Sochi, the couple carried a warm relationship to each other through the years, managed to have three children. The young people entered into an official marriage when they were only 19 years old - in 1981. Two years later, they had their first child - a son, Vladimir (1983). In 1990, the Kirienko couple had a daughter, Lyuba, and 12 years later, in 2002, their youngest daughter, Nadezhda.

Vladimir and Lyubov Kiriyenko are already adults, are engaged in their careers, have their own families. It is not known whether Sergey and Maria have grandchildren. Nadezhda still lives with her parents. For three years Vladimir headed the board of directors of one of the banks in Nizhny Novgorod, in 2016 he was promoted to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Rostelecom, took up the coordination of commercial activities and marketing of the company. What the middle daughter, Lyubov Kiriyenko, does is unknown.
