Many people are convinced that astrology is an objective guide in life and work. There are a lot of literary publications with horoscopes and advice on the formation of the main points of behavior. Sometimes even Christians are favorable to astrological teaching, not understanding its essence and meaning.

Astrology is not just horoscopes. It is a religious and philosophical teaching based on the fact that stars and planets influence the human personality. This refers to the predisposition of people, the difference in their characters, as well as fate.

The Christian Orthodox Church has never taken a positive attitude to the teaching of astrology about the essence of the world. This is primarily due to the fact that in astrological teaching the importance of the human person is seriously belittled and the complete freedom of a person is violated. The Lord created people independent of the arrangement of the stars and planets, and he himself was related to the salvation of man.

According to the teachings of the Church, it is people who are the crown of God's creation, they are the center of the cosmos. The fate of a person is determined by his personal behavior and freedom of choice, and not by the specifics of the date of birth or the shape of the arrangement of stars and planets. Of course, there are factors that influence a person from the outside, but, according to the teaching of the Church, they are in the knowledge of God, and not in the disposition of heavenly bodies.

The negative attitude of the Church towards astrology has ancient roots. Even in BC, many astrologers were simultaneously engaged in sorcery and sorcery, which could not be perceived positively from the side of faith in one God.

In astrological teaching, features of mysticism, the uncertainty of the essence of a person's existence can be seen. There is nothing in this teaching that speaks of God in the Christian sense, and therefore an Orthodox person cannot accept such a view of the world.

Astrology is not a science in the literal sense of the word (this is its significant difference from astronomy). Astrological doctrine is pseudoscientific and appeals to the field of human worldview, in which instead of God there are stars and planets that affect human life.

Christianity warns believers that it is necessary to understand the essence of the greatness of the human person. The Lord Jesus Christ takes on human flesh, which is deified. Man is exalted to the highest degree of oneness with God. Therefore, the doctrine that speaks of the impact of an inanimate creation on a person cannot be applied, because, according to Christianity, the whole world depends on a person, and not vice versa.
