Biography

Carlos was born in 1968 in the Federal Republic of Germany, the city of Hesse. The family left Germany and until the age of twelve the boy lived in the Netherlands.

Parents immediately discerned the child's talent and sent him to learn to play the piano. Carlos also took solfeggio lessons in parallel.

At the age of eight, his first album, "Little Caruso", was released. It included such masterpieces of musical art as O Sole Mio and Granada.

When Carlos was twelve years old, the whole family moved permanently to Madrid. At the age of fifteen, the young singer won the Young People music competition, and five years later took first place in another Spanish competition, New People.

Carlos also took an active part in various concerts, music and television shows.

The singer is a very versatile person with a good education, speaks three languages (Spanish, Italian, English).

Creation

Carlos took vocal lessons from such masters as Montserrat Caballe, Alfredo Kraus and Giacomo Aragal.

The knowledge gained and innate talent helped him conquer the public in different countries of the world and receive recognition from professional critics.

After successfully graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, Carlos Marin has worked in musicals (Grease, Les Miserables and others).

Opera performances with his participation were very popular with the audience: La Traviata, The Barber of Seville, Madame Butterfly.

Having passed a serious selection, Carlos Marin got into the Il Divo quartet. The original author of the project was the music producer Simon Cowell. He was very much inspired by the joint work of Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman and he "fired up the idea" to create a pop quartet of beautiful and talented opera singers.

The selection was carried out for more than two years, but the result exceeded the wildest expectations of the producer.

In 2004, the first album of the Il Divo quartet was released and immediately took first places in many music top charts.

The group records their compositions in different languages, their style can be interpreted as a mix of traditional popular music and opera.

Il Divo has worked with Toni Braxton and Celine Dion. As special guests, the quartet took part in the tour of Barbra Streisand, from which receipts reached a record 92.5 million dollars.

Il Divo perform with their concerts all over the world and have won many music awards and awards.

In the fall of 2012, as part of their world tour, the Il Divo quartet came to Russia, where they gave two concerts. After that, the collective came to Russia two more times with their new programs and already beloved hits.

In 2018, their next album, Timeless, was released.

Personal life

Since 1994, Carlos met with the Spanish dancer and singer Geraldine Larroza. They officially registered the relationship in 2006, and in 2009 the couple broke up after fifteen years of relationship. The former spouses did not have children.

After the breakup, the singer had a serious relationship with the Bollywood actress, but they ended in a breakup. Now Carlos Marin lives in London, is working on a new album and is actively touring with Il Divo around the world.
