At the moment, three films from the series "The Chronicles of Narnia" have been released, each of which brings to life the pages of Clive Lewis's amazing fantasy saga. During the filming, the scriptwriters and directors made not only the characters come to life, but also reproduced the landscapes of a magical land with amazing accuracy.
The Lion, the Witch and the Magic Wardrobe
The magical novels "The Chronicles of Narnia" by Clive Lewis have fascinated the hearts of children and adults since the middle of the twentieth century, and in 2005 the first part of the film adaptation, worthy of the book itself, finally appeared. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, under the slogan The Beginning of the Great Saga, was filmed in New Zealand and the Czech Republic from June to December 2004, with a budget of $ 180 million. The script is almost exactly the same as the book, with minor deviations for the overall dynamics. It is noteworthy that the interest of fans in filming forced the film crew to use two pseudonyms for the picture - in Auckland, the film crew was looking for a site according to the Paravel signs.
One of the scenes - a train ride - was filmed in two countries, England and New Zealand, because the required model of carriages and a steam locomotive was not found at the main filming location. As a result, the exterior of the train and the interior of the train relate to carriages located in different parts of the world and filmed at completely different times.
There is another story connected with the filming location. Initially, the scriptwriters wanted to use live deer in the picture for sledding, but the authorities forbade them to bring animals from the United States, as they could become carriers of a dangerous disease, including those transmitted to humans and cows. As a result, deer appeared in the film, completely simulated on the computer.
Prince Caspian
The filming location of the second part, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", was New Zealand, the Czech Republic (we are talking primarily about the castle of King Miraz), as well as the Soča River in a resort area near the town of Bovec in Slovenia and in Poland. For example, the London Underground station, the starting point of the journey in this film, was filmed at the Henderson Film Studios in New Zealand.
The total area of the decorations built for this part of the triquel is more than 2000 square meters. For example, Miraza Castle took over 15 weeks to build, partly based on historical reproductions of Pierrefonds Castle (France). For the special grandeur of this building, all of its proportions were tripled by computer processing. In addition, for the construction of the bridge on Soca, the course of the river was temporarily changed in order to recreate the battle scene exactly as required by the script. More than seventy people worked on costumes for the film. If we evaluate the amount of effort and man-hours spent, this film turned out to be the most ambitious.
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader was filmed in Australia, Queensland, and took only 90 days, which is less than the duration of the filming of both the first and second parts. In parallel, filming was carried out in the pavilions of the Warner Roadshow studio (Gold Coast). The title character of the film, The Voyage of the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, was created at Cleveland Point, a headland of Australia - filming took place in the open air, after which the structures were disassembled into more than 50 pieces and transported for further filming in the studio.
