Biography

Konstantin was born in 1969 in the Sverdlovsk region. The mother of the future boxer worked in the field of medicine, while his father worked at a metallurgical plant. In 1979, dad brought Konstantin to the boxing section.

The surname Tszyu went to the athlete from his great-grandfather, a thoroughbred Korean, who came to the Russian Federation from China. Konstantin also has a sister.

Having successfully passed the exams, in 1986 he entered the SIPI (Sverdlovsk Engineering and Pedagogical Institute), but after a year he dropped out and became a private in the OVKUS support battalion (Oryol Higher Military Command School).

In 1989, Tszyu's first serious success in the main age group took place. He won the USSR Championship as well as the European Championship. In 1991, Konstantin put in his piggy bank gold medals of the world championship.
