The boy was delighted with this idea, and his parents decided to support the hobby. Coming to the sport quite late, at the age of 10, after six months of training, Konstantin surprised the coaches of the city youth sports school with victories in sparring with partners much older and heavier than himself.
The boy was recommended to the USSR junior national team. And already in 1985, his sports piggy bank was replenished with the title of the champion of the country in the youth category. This was the start of Konstantin Tszyu's dizzying boxing career.
