Interest in the events taking place in Ukraine is largely due to the changes that have recently taken place in the economy of this country. Experts note a general decrease in the weight of export and import transactions in the trade structure, which may indicate a growing crisis. In this regard, it is interesting to trace what are the features of export in Ukraine.

Features of Ukrainian exports

The trade balance of Ukraine cannot be called positive, since the export of goods here is significantly lower than imports. This trend has been noted by experts in the past few years. In 2013, the volume of exports of products from Ukraine to the countries of the former Soviet Union amounted to more than a third of all export operations. Europe accounted for more than 25%, Ukraine exported about the same amount of goods to Asian countries.

A significant part of supplies to Russia are mechanisms and machines, locomotives, as well as ferrous metals. Ukraine supplies oils and fats of vegetable and animal origin to Turkey, metals and fertilizers, to Poland - slag, ash, as well as electrical installations. The commodity structure of the country's exports is based on ores, metals and metal products. In recent years, the export of products of the chemical industry and those industries that are directly related to it has slightly decreased. Metallurgical enterprises are the leaders in export supplies.

About 80% of Ukrainian metallurgy products are exported.

The composition of export operations is different for different countries with which Ukraine maintains economic ties. The products of mechanical engineering and other "heavy" industries go mainly to Kazakhstan and Russia. Lighter industries are exported to Asia and Europe. At the same time, Italy and Poland remain very important partners for the Ukrainian economy.

Ukraine's export plans

In the structure of Ukrainian exports, the importance of agricultural products is growing. In just eight months of 2013, the country exported almost $ 10 billion worth of such products, which is about a quarter of the total Ukrainian exports. The government plans to increase these indicators and make the products of the agro-industrial complex a leading export item.

Ukrainian agricultural products are sent to most of the key regions of the planet, including the CIS countries, the European Union and Asia. At the same time, the supply of such products to China has grown more than seven times.

In Ukraine, there are forces interested in ensuring that Europe's share in the state's trade balance is significantly higher than it is now. This is partly due to the political protests, the participants of which insist on Ukraine's integration into the European Union. Opponents of such integration cite calculations as an argument according to which, after Ukraine's accession to the EU, the volume of Ukrainian exports will significantly decrease, while imports from Europe will increase.
