Biography

Laila Alizadeh was born on August 10, 1977, in Kabul, Afghanistan. Soon after the birth of their daughter, the family decided to move to Montreal, Canada, where Layla spent most of her childhood.

From an early age, Laila showed an interest in foreign languages and acting. While in high school, she joined the drama club and took part in several school plays. So thirteen-year-old Laila was noticed by a talent search agent - and offered a small role. She subsequently landed the lead role in a Canadian television show called KidZone.

After participating in KidZone, she realized that her true desire is to become an actress. Parents supported their daughter and moved with her to Vancouver. From that moment on, Laila began attending the prestigious theater school "Studio 58", where she studied acting.

Career

Laila Alizadeh made her American television debut in 1995, when she played the role of Carol in one of the episodes of the detective-drama series Strange Fortune. A couple of years later, she played a small role in John McTiernan's famous sci-fi action movie The 13th Warrior, which was released in 1999. But her breakthrough role in her acting career was the role of the Afghan refugee Mina in Don McBrearty's In Pursuit of Freedom. This role earned her a nomination for the 2005 Gemini Awards. She also received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Film.

From 2005 to 2006, Layla starred in four episodes of the Canadian comedy series Godiva's Bistro. The role of Rajni Haideri in this series earned Laila several nominations for the Leo Awards, Canadian Screen Awards and Gemini Awards.

In a fairly short time and hard work, the actress achieved career heights that others could dream of, but she was not going to stop there. Several films with her participation were released annually. These were also the main roles in the drama film "Compromise" by Rahul Nath or in the short film by Jake Thornton "Soldiers for Blood: Interrogation". And the secondary ones in the favorite TV series "The Mentalist" and "Melissa and Joey". Personal life

During the filming of the series “Bistro“Godiva's”in 2005, Laila met the Canadian actor Noel Fisher. At first, they were connected only by friendly relations, which gradually grew into love. And only in 2014 the couple got engaged. The wedding itself took place on July 15, 2017. Laila and Noel currently live in Los Angeles, California, USA.
