Hidding Goose is a legendary football coach from the Netherlands. He has worked with the most famous teams and has consistently led them to success in championships of all levels. Only with the national team from Russia Hidding could not “cope”. But is it his fault, or is it perhaps the team itself?
Hidding Goose spent four years coaching the Russian football team. All his efforts were in vain, there were practically no successful matches. All that he achieved was the attention of the media of all types to his person, accusations of a lack of coaching qualities. The accusations were completely unfounded, as there are many coaching victories and grateful teams in Gus's “piggy bank”.
Who is Guus Hidding - biography
Hidding Goose was born in the provincial town of Warssevelde in the Netherlands in November 1946. From childhood, the boy was passionate about football, trained actively and managed to reach certain heights in this sport.
Gus started at the football club of his hometown as a midfielder. After graduating from school, he was enrolled in a specialized university in his country - the Central Institute in Overven, which trained sports mentors. Hidding was the best student, after graduation he received a red diploma and took up a career.
Guus Hidding's football career
After graduation, Gus took up both a football career and a coach career. In 1967, he signed with De Graafshal, played for them as a midfielder and at the same time coached the youth team in a school for children with deviant behavior and developmental delays.
In 1987 Guus Hidding focused on his career as a coach and agreed to lead the Dutch football club PSV. In his career, he has had both successful and unsuccessful experience of working with teams from many countries of the world. He worked with clubs like
- Fenerbahce in Turkey,
- Spanish "Valencia",
- "Real Madrid",
- Real Betis,
- South Korea national team,
- Australia football team,
- Russian national team.
He brought almost every club to a higher level, raised the rating. The only failure, apart from Russian footballers, Hidding himself considers working with Spanish clubs. From the coaching of these three teams, including the Russian one, he refused himself, terminating contracts and paying forfeits.
Guus Hidding's personal life
Little is known about this side of the life of a successful coach, but journalists still managed to find juicy aspects. The fact is that Hidding has both a legal (official) wife and a so-called girlfriend.
In a marriage with Ine Bemkes, a native Dutchwoman, Gus had two sons - Mark and Michael. They are not officially divorced; in an interview, Hidding claims that he is happily married, the family is strong and there will be no changes in his personal life. But the paparazzi managed to "capture" the coach with a friend, and the journalists even found out her name. Gus's friend's name is Elizabeth, and this is all the information about her for now.
