A painting is not a photograph, it is born under the gaze of an artist. As he sees, this is how the landscape will look. Nikolai Krymov is a Russian artist, from among the classics, who left a priceless legacy to descendants.

Childhood and youth

Drawing lessons at school do not train future artists. Exercises with a brush and paint are useful for developing the eye and coordination of movements. But if a child shows talent, then he can enter an art school. It is very important to teach a person from an early age to see the world around them figuratively and vividly, to understand its material beauty. Without this understanding, drawing will turn into empty chores. The famous Soviet artist Nikolai Petrovich Krymov mastered the skills of drawing at home, in the lessons his father taught him.

The future painter was born on May 2, 1884 as the eleventh child in the family of a professional artist. Twelve children grew up in the house. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. My father painted portraits to order. He worked a lot, but his earnings were modest. The mother was engaged in housekeeping and raising children. The family noticed Nikolai's ability to draw early. In order not to attract teachers from outside, the father himself studied the basics of painting with his youngest son. In 1904, Nikolai graduated from a real school and entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.

Professional activity

Krymov received specialized education within the walls, where already famous painters taught. The aspiring artist listened to the advice and guidance of Valentin Serov, Leonid Pasternak, Apollinarius Vasnetsov. During that period, a variety of trends in art became widespread in Russia. Some artists were carried away by impressionism, others by the avant-garde, and still others by modernism. Nikolai Petrovich also did not escape the influence of fashion trends. For some time he painted landscapes and still lifes in the style of symbolism. However, he soon developed his own style of writing, close to realism.

Krymov considered the artist Isaac Levitan to be his main teacher. It is a pity that this painter passed away too early. His paintings depicting landscapes of the Central Russian strip remain a model for young artists. Nikolai Petrovich at a certain stage of his work imitated his teacher. The influence of genius is very difficult to resist. However, at the end of his life, Krymov, half-jokingly, half-seriously, remarked that he could draw only bushes and fences, but he did it better than anyone else.

Recognition and privacy

Krymov not only painted pictures, but taught at the Moscow Regional Art School. Many talented painters came out of his workshop. For conscientious work Nikolai Petrovich was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. He was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of the RSFSR".

Krymov's personal life has developed well. In 1916, he married Elena Nikolaevna Dosekina, the daughter of a famous Russian artist. Husband and wife have lived under the same roof for over forty years. Nikolai Petrovich Krymov died in May 1958.
