Yana Martynova is a Russian swimmer, a member of the national team of the country. The multiple Russian champion was a participant and finalist of the Olympic Games in Athens, Beijing and London. The multiple champion of the World Cup stage and the record holder of Russia at distances of 400 meters in complex swimming and 200 meters in butterfly stroke in 2007 was recognized as the best domestic athlete in 2007.
Yana Valerievna Martynova grew up in a sports family. Her father is the record holder for the number of matches played with Rubin, footballer Valery Martynov. Mom was engaged in volleyball. The older sister of the athlete Marina became the swimmer. Following the example of her relatives, Yana chose a professional sports career.
The beginning of the way
The youngest Martynova set records in competitions both domestically and internationally, represented Tatarstan at the Olympic Games. Currently, the famous athlete has founded her own swimming school, where she trains new champions. The biography of the future swimmer began in 1988.
The child was born in Kazan on February 3. At the age of five, the parents took their youngest daughter to the pool. By that time, her sister was already swimming. Yana got into the group of an excellent mentor, the best coach of Kazan, Gulnara Aminova.
This collaboration continued throughout the swimmer's career. Martynova owes much of her achievements to him. From her family, the girl inherited perseverance, desire for victories and efficiency. The father has always been an example for his daughter. She saw how he completely devoted himself to the game, worked from the heart. She watched the admiration of the fans, dreaming of the same attitude towards herself.
From the age of ten, the girl chose a professional sports career. She realized that sport has turned from a hobby into a work of life. Yana started preparing for a great future. At eleven Martynova was the master of sports of the country, and at fourteen - of international class. At the age of two thousand, the young swimmer was called to the national team.
In 2002, the girl made her debut at the world level. In the 2004 short course swimming competition held in Moscow, the athlete received the first "gold". Successful qualification for the Olympic Games was a huge achievement.
Sports successes
In Athens, sixteen-year-old Martynova became one of the youngest participants. She had to fly to Greece without a personal trainer. Yana did not get into the number of prize-winners, but she received the most valuable experience for her career development. In the future, the girl repeatedly became the winner of the most prestigious competitions at the country level.
At the 2007 championship, after the strongest stress experienced a little earlier, the athlete managed to pull herself together and became the first in the first four-hundred-meter complex swim.
The nineteen-year-old swimmer has set her first record. A new achievement was the victory in the 200m butterfly. In 2007, Yana won the silver medal in the complex at the world championship in Melbourne. 400 m became Martynova's crown distance. The next year, in the same discipline, the swimmer took "bronze" at the European championship in Eidhoven, the Netherlands, improving her own result by three seconds.
The twenty-year-old participant in the 2008 Olympics came in great shape. The girl set the national record at the 400-meter complex in the preliminary swim. However, the swimmer failed to surpass her stronger rivals in the final. The result was the seventh place. Martynova is sure that her main advantage is endurance, not speed.
However, injury often hinders achievement. During preparation for the 2012 Olympics, Martynova was injured. At first, the swimmer did not pay attention to her and continued the swim. However, the pain soon made it impossible to continue training. The girl took part in the competitions, she was seriously gearing up for victory. But the result was only 24th place. The athlete did not reach the final. The inability for the coach to be in the pool with the student also affected the psychological state in a bad way.
New Horizons
Without leaving her sports career, Yana was engaged in receiving education. In 2012, the swimmer graduated from the marketing and management department at the Kazan University of Finance and Economics, becoming a certified manager. Then there was a master's degree at the Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Rehabilitation Medicine of the Federal University.
In 2013, the athlete participated in the Universiade. She became the first in the 400-meter race, winning the 100th jubilee gold for the country at the student games. At the same time, at a training camp in America, with personal trainer David Salo, Yana got acquainted with a new training system for her.
Martynova trained with Katinka Hossu, a Hungarian athlete, with whom she competed from children's starts. The Russian woman has always admired the ability to pick up whole placers of awards. The swimmer dreamed of learning the secret of such endurance in full, and not in two heats at most.
Due to another injury in 2015, I had to miss the water championship in Kazan. In the summer, a doping scandal erupted. The athlete claimed that she did not use a prohibited substance, her innocence was confirmed by a polygraph test.
However, this measure did not prevent a four-year suspension until July 27, 2019. The Brazilian Olympics were skipped. Despite the possibility of participating in the 2020 Olympics, Yana decided to end her career.
Coaching activities
The swimmer was very upset by the disqualification. In 2016, the girl was offered to conduct several master classes for children. The athlete liked this experience. She found new motivation in coaching. There was a desire to open their own swimming school.
From the beginning of the autumn of the same year, Martynova began working as a mentor. The MY CHAMPS school was opened on the basis of the KAI Olymp sports complex. For training, the swimmer chose a unique technique developed by David Salo.
The athlete found this approach easier and more varied than the domestic one. The technique is better assimilated by novice swimmers and provides motivation for success. It implies a lot of sparring competitions, game moments. The students like it very much. MY CHAMPS is a huge success. Even other cities come to train in Kazan.
Yana arranged her personal life. Officially Martynova and her chosen one, swimmer Dmitry Zhilin, became husband and wife in July 2007. The champion of the country and participant of many world championships helps the chosen one. Together, young people pass on their experience to the new generation.
