When at various events they begin to list the areas of professional activity of Mark Rozovsky, it takes a lot of time to announce the complete list. Today, suffice it to say that this man is the creator and chief director of the Moscow theater "At the Nikitskiye Vorota".
Starting conditions
The fate of this man is similar to an adventure novel. The future playwright and composer was born on April 3, 1937 in a family of Soviet engineers. At that time, the parents lived in the distant city of Petropavlovsk-on-Kamchatka. Father, Semyon Schlidman, and mother, Olga Klemp, after graduation, were sent to the most eastern point of the country to build a shipyard. The child was not even a year old when his father was arrested on a false denunciation and sentenced to a long prison term. The shipbuilding engineer was rehabilitated only after eighteen years.
A year later, the grandmother took her grandson and daughter to her in Moscow. Here the mother married Grigory Rozovsky, who gave his last name and patronymic to his stepson. The boy showed extraordinary abilities at an early age. I learned to read early. Easily memorized verses and melodies of songs that sounded on the radio. Rozovsky studied well at school. He actively participated in public events and amateur performances. Having received a certificate of maturity, Mark decided to enter the journalism department of Moscow State University.
Creative way
Already in the first year, Rozovsky became a regular participant in the amateur student theater "Our House". Fate wished that an energetic and talented student took over as artistic director and headed the theater until 1969. During this period, Mark received specialized education at the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors. His production “A Whole Evening Like the Damned” won a special prize at the international student theater competition in Warsaw. In 1974 Rozovsky became the head of the Moscow Music Hall as artistic director.
At the same time, he had enough energy, in the status of a “nomadic” director, to stage performances in theaters in Leningrad, Riga and other cities. After long and persistent requests, a new drama theater "At the Nikitsky Gate" appeared in Moscow. This became possible thanks to the incredible efforts of Mark Rozovsky. Since 1983, plays based on the works of Zoshchenko, Karamzin, Babel and Rozovsky have been staged on a new stage.
Recognition and privacy
Sincere admirers of Mark Rozovsky's talent never tire of wondering how he can effectively work as an administrator and be creative. For his great services in the field of art he was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of the Russian Federation".
The director's personal life developed according to a dramatic plot. At the moment, Mark Rozovsky is living in his fourth marriage. The husband and wife raised a son. The venerable director does not forget about his two daughters from previous marriages.
Currently, Mark Grigorievich continues to work on new productions in his native theater.
