James Thomas Denton Jr. is an American actor best known for his role in the television series Desperate Housewives, where he played Mike Delfino. The cast of this project was twice nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. James also won the FOX Teen Choice Awards.
The creative biography of James began after graduation. He received his BA in Advertising and Journalism. After that, he began to try himself on the theater stage, where he achieved great success. Then he worked in advertising on television, and soon got his first film roles.
early years
James was born in the winter of 1963 in the United States. His father received a medical degree and worked as a dentist, and his mother did the housework and raised three children.
Since childhood, the boy was fond of sports and did not think about an acting career. He played basketball professionally and was going to devote his future life to sports. But James's sports career did not work out, and after graduating from high school, he first continued his studies in college, and then went to university to engage in the advertising business.
At the age of twenty, James decided to try himself on stage for the first time. His debut took place in the production of Our City, but James decided to devote his further life to the theater much later, despite the fact that the audience and the director liked his acting very much.
Creative career
The first years after graduation, James worked in advertising, only after moving to Chicago, he again decided to return to the theater stage. There he became a member of the troupe of one of the Chicago theaters, where he played quite a few roles and even received the Joseph Jefferson Theater Prize, awarded to talented young actors.
He worked in the performances: "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Rabbit, Rabbit", "Flesh and Blood". For the production of Hank Williams' Love Night, Denton himself wrote the music and performed it in the play. Then James performed on the stage in California, mastered acting and studied with famous representatives of the theatrical art. Only after that Denton decided to pursue a career in television and try his hand at cinema.
Film career
Having achieved great success in the theater and having received well-deserved recognition, James was able to immediately attract the attention of directors and producers. He got his first film roles in such television projects as: "Military Legal Service", "Parallel Worlds", "Pretender", "Dark Skies", "West Wing", "Philadelphia". Also, James played several minor roles in the films: "No Face", "It's an Old Feeling", "Primary Colors".
In 2003, the actor was approved for the lead role in the series "The Matrix: Menace", where he played special agent John Culmer. The project was released on screens for a year, but was not successful and was canceled. Immediately after that, Denton was offered a role in the new series "Desperate Housewives", which brought him the greatest popularity and fame.
To date, the actor has already played more than forty movie roles. Since 2015, he has been successfully acting in the TV series The Good Witch, and soon new projects with Denton's participation will appear on the screens.
