Water sports require special training from the participants. In synchronized swimming, it is very important to be aware of your performance partner and monitor your own breathing. Svetlana Kolesnichenko holds the title of Olympic champion in this type of competition.
Ruthless training
Each sport has its own characteristics and requirements. In basketball, tall players are preferred. Sumo wrestlers purposefully put on weight to defeat their opponent. In synchronized swimming, there are also criteria by which coaches select promising athletes. Parents or grandparents bring children to the "selection". Multiple world champion Svetlana Konstantinovna Kolesnichenko came to the pool when she was barely six years old. Experienced coaches did not see any obvious predispositions for swimming, but neither did they see any limitations.
The famous Russian athlete was born on September 20, 1993 in an intelligent family. Parents lived in the city of Gatchina, which is located on the territory of the Leningrad Region. The child grew up surrounded by attention and care. According to close relatives, Sveta, like many modern children, was not in good health. At the same time, there was no reason to call her painful either. As a result of short discussions, it was decided to take the girl to the synchronized swimming section. The pool was not far from the house, around the corner. Svetlana liked the lessons from the first days.
On the wave of success
Experienced trainers know very well that working with children is much more difficult than working with adults. It is very important to promptly orient and properly motivate future champions. Svetlana Kolesnichenko is a sincere and open person by nature. After a short period of time, she dreamed of winning an Olympic gold medal. And this dream became the best incentive to adhere to the regime and the training process. Simultaneously with training, the athlete received specialized education at the Kiwi sports and health school. When Svetlana was seventeen years old, she was already enrolled in the national team.
The first success came to the athlete in 2010. More precisely, Russian synchronized swimmers climbed to the top of the podium three times in the World Cup competitions. This victory became especially significant for Kolesnichenko, because she was able to overcome internal tension and even fear. And, no less important, I felt like a member of the team. A sports career developed consistently, without disruptions and rush jobs. The following year, at the World Championships in Shanghai, Kolesnichenko received three gold medals.
Recognition and privacy
Svetlana's cherished dream came true in 2016. At the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she became the Olympic champion as part of the team. The Russian government awarded the athlete with the Order of Friendship. For Kolesnichenko, preparations for the next Olympiad in 2020 began from that moment.
Very little is known about the champion's personal life. Outside the training room, she spends time at her parents' house. For some time now, Svetlana has been in a relationship with a young man who also plays sports. They are united by love for a common cause. When they will become husband and wife is not known.
