The greatest interest among readers, of which there is no doubt, is caused by extraordinary characters who live, as they say, their own lives. But how to describe the characters of the heroes, so that their actions in history, their actions look like a genuine reaction of the most real, living creature? Any author looking to raise their skill level has to face this challenge. And, as always, everything is simple, you just need to learn.
There is no doubt that a story filled with living characters, in which even minor roles are played by interesting, bewitching personalities from the world on the other side of the pages, is transformed and appears in a new image. Therefore, it is so important not to spare the effort to think over each character, create his biography, think over the details that play a role in his formation, thinking, affect the decisions made by this fictional personality. And it's no secret that venerable writers sometimes do it with amazing force. Their fictional creations are able to make someone cry or laugh, sad or cheer up, think. There is no point in lying, it is extremely difficult to achieve such a result, it will require enthusiastic dedication, hard work and great efforts. But it is possible. And having once learned to create interesting, versatile personalities that grow out of the pen of the author, their creator, the author himself, will never unlearn this technique.
The character is usually built by itself as an idea. A large number of its features are already formulated when the author thinks about where the story will begin, how it will end and what thought will carry the reader. It would be strange to think that it is enough to invent an interesting person, place them in some circumstances, after which you can only observe her actions and write everything down. This is not the case. The character is almost entirely created by circumstances, and at the beginning of his path he is deprived of any independence, forced to obey the dictates of his creator. At this stage, the character is still being formed as an integral personality. He does not make any decisions, but acts in accordance with the expectations of the author. But why? The author is asking, or rather, should be asking this question. Why is he doing this now and not otherwise? Not because the story has already been thought out, it is only an appearance, in fact, at this time the writer isolates in snatches the character of the character he creates according to the actions he performs to develop the story. Much of this will not be available to the reader even after the story has been written. The reader sees only part of it, while the author must know all the ins and outs.
But over time, the character begins to argue with the author. Of course, he does not rise from the pages of the book, does not appeal to his creator. But regularities are beginning to be traced in his behavior. Suppose, at the beginning of the work, the character was forced to face a choice, to sacrifice his own interests for the good of an unfamiliar person, or to disdain someone else's grief and act for the benefit of himself. Either way, he did what the author ordered. Let's say he acted selfishly, for example, only because he was in a similar situation for the first time. Thus, the features of a future independent personality are already emerging. What she will feel now still depends on the author. Suppose she begins to worry about remorse. This emerging personality is worried that, through negligence, or because of her selfishness, she has inadvertently made life difficult for an innocent person. But for a character to react this way, he must have a backstory. He must already be a person who is influenced in this way by the events taking place in the work.
Further, suppose that the author has already conceived that after much anguish and reflection, the character will again face a similar, but more vivid situation, the consequences of which will be more widespread. And the character must act differently this time, not wanting to endure again those torments that he experienced, or trying to atone for his guilt in this way. In any case, now the character becomes a full-fledged personality and begins to dictate to the author how he should act. It is only important not to be distracted, not to let his voice die out in the desire to finish writing the work as soon as possible. After all, the remaining path, or rather, the whole story from the very beginning, now has to be revised from the position of the character as a person. Why is he or she doing this? Suddenly, inconsistencies begin to appear in the story. After all, the author is already familiar with his creation, is familiar with the person who is the protagonist, is familiar with her thoughts, habits, fears and desires. And the writer begins to notice that in some places the character does not act as he himself should want, contradicts his own convictions, ignores his philosophy, neglects the statements that he himself points to in the work. Then his independent life begins. And the author must then carefully and scrupulously study every movement, every word, every deed of the character he created, because now the writer himself no longer has power over his creation, but only serves as a broadcast device that tells the reader the story of a real, living, thinking and feeling creature …
The aspiring writer is often faced with this problem. He is inattentive to the created character, neglects his desires and aspirations, wanting to write the story the way he wants to see it himself. But the real character inevitably comes to life in the work, begins to dictate his own conditions, does not obey the wishes of his creator. And the main task of a real author is to hear his voice, inaccessible to others, a voice that tells the writer that this is no longer his story, a voice that itself begins to tell, allowing the author to plunge into a new world. And this is a joy for the author, an inexpressible feeling when a new universe opens up for him, in which he turns from a creator into a spectator following the fate of his creation. That is why you need to be sensitive and attentive to this voice, because there are countless more worlds waiting for their stories to be written. And only the author can, like no one else, dive deeply into them, discover what is only for the writer, hear how his own characters speak to him from the pages of an unfinished work, telling their stories.
