Brooke Smith is an American film and television actress, journalist, screenwriter and director. She began her film career in 1988. She gained fame for her role as Catherine Martin in the thriller The Silence of the Lambs.

Brooke had a sibling Scott Eugene Smith. Unfortunately, he died in an accident on Plum Island in August 1985. After the death of her son, Lois and her husband established a special scholarship fund at the Hebron Academy, where Scott studied.

Currently, the husband, wife and two children live in New York, they also have a home in Los Angeles.
