Biography
Richard Gere grew up on a village farm, his mother was a housewife, and his father was an insurance agent, in addition to Richard, 3 more sisters and a half-brother were brought up in the family. Immediately after graduating from high school in 1967, Richard left home to study philosophy and directing at the University of Massachusetts. Two years later, he dropped out to become a professional trumpet player, but returned to acting, realizing that musicians are much more capricious than actors.
