The doors of the church are always open for every person. But when you come there, you need to observe certain rules of behavior, the main essence of which is simple education, respect for other people and customs of Orthodoxy.

Instructions

Step 1

You can come to church at any time, except late evening and night. Regardless of whether the service is taking place or not, you can enter there. However, if you want to attend the service, it is better to come 5-10 minutes before it starts. Then you can safely buy candles, icons in the narthex, venerate the icons or talk to priests.

Step 2

When going to church, wear modest clothing in soothing colors. And although no one will expel a woman in trousers from the temple, it is better to opt for a dress or skirt no higher than the knee. Especially if you are going to receive the Holy Communion. The neckline and arms should also be covered. A man can wear dress pants and a long-sleeved shirt. In the temple, short skirts, shorts, T-shirts or dresses made of transparent fabrics are unacceptable.

Step 3

Women entering the church must cover their heads with a handkerchief or scarf. A man, on the other hand, needs to take off his headdress.

Step 4

Do a subtle makeup, or better yet, give it up altogether. You should also not paint your nails with bright colors or come with dirty nails and hands.

Step 5

Cross yourself three times in front of the entrance to the temple, bowing in the waist after each time. Going into the vestibule, turn off your mobile phone, cover your head or, conversely, take off your hat or cap.

Step 6

Maintain silence while in church, and if you need to ask or say something, try to do it in a whisper. Do not push standing people with your elbows, making your way to the icons or the altar.

Step 7

Once at the service, try to defend it to the end. But if you feel unwell, you can quietly leave or sit on a bench. Leaving the church, make three bows to the side of the altar and cross yourself.

Step 8

If you are confused about behavior or church attendance, or you just want to talk, wait until the end of the service and seek help from a priest.
