Kelly Ann, a native of sunny California, was born on July 9, 1957 in the small town of Newport Beach. The father of the future star, Donald McGillis, is a general practitioner, and the mother of the future star Joan, a housewife, was engaged in home improvement and caring for loved ones.

1989 was a time for Kelly for a new love and a second marriage. She became the wife of Fred Tillman. The happy family was replenished with two daughters.
The eldest, Kelsey, Kelly gave birth at thirty-two, and the youngest, named Sonora, three years later. But in 2002, the couple broke up. Again, the actress's family life ended in divorce.
Seven years later, in one interview, McGillis declared that she was a lesbian. She admitted that she always felt in herself a craving for women, but could not admit it because of the prohibitions on such an orientation in society.
