Before giving the find, check with the prospective owner what color the case is, which operator's SIM card is inserted into it, etc.
The phone is often forgotten in public places. Give it to the owner of the room where you found it. According to the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, a thing found in transport or on the territory of an organization / individual must be transferred to the one who represents the owner of the vehicle or premises. The owner, in turn, must act in accordance with the law, as if he himself found the lost thing.
You can also report the find to the police. You have the right to deposit your phone with your local government or keep it with you. If within six months from the date of submission of the application the owner of the phone has not appeared, then you can consider him yours. If you don't need a phone, it will become municipal property.
All your efforts do not have to be free of charge. Nobody forbids you to demand a reward if the owner of the phone is found. Officially, the amount of gratitude should be 20% of the cost of the phone. If it is of great value to the owner, then the amount of remuneration can be negotiated on an individual basis.
In addition to the reward, you can get damages for the storage of the phone and the costs of finding the owner if the phone is transferred to the municipal property. The amount of damage is calculated according to the documents confirming your expenses. Therefore, do not throw away any checks and receipts that will be received in the process of finding the owner of the phone you have found.
