Perhaps there is no country in the world where there would be no Death Road. The road, once entered, you can never go back. Folklore tells us about such roads from childhood in the fairy tale about Ivan Tsarevich: “On the fork in the paths, the Prophetic Stone lies, and on it the inscription:“If you go to the right, you will lose your horse, you will save yourself; if you go to the left, you will lose yourself, you will save the horse; if you go straight, you will lose yourself and your horse."
The most famous Death Roads are located in four countries: Bolivia, Mexico, Thailand and Russia - in Lytkarino.
Gray antiquity
The most ancient Road of Death, or, as it is also called, the Road of the Dead or the Milky Way, is located in Mexico and is one of the most mysterious monuments left to us by the Mayan Indian civilization. It passes between the pyramids, which are much older than the Egyptian ones - in a place called Teotihuacan in the language of the Indians. Its length is 5 kilometers, and its width is from 50 to 100 meters.
The Road of the Dead is located between two pyramids in a complex called the Feathered Serpent. There is an assumption that in the zone of the Road of the Dead, under the still unexcavated mounds, there are several more pyramids that symbolize the planets of the solar system known to the ancient Indians - Pluto and Neptune. The entire complex of Indian pyramids mysteriously corresponds to the Egyptian pyramidal complex from the Giza Valley, and also conveys the location on the star map of the three stars located in the Orion belt. On the sides of the Road there are small pyramids with a fourfold increase in the number of steps. Its end leads to the steps of the pyramid of the Moon.
According to legend, the Road is a path that consists of cells, like the life of every person on Earth, which he goes through being in a clear consciousness. All cells are symmetrical, but we ourselves choose the side along which we go and fill these cells with the contents that we choose along the way. In addition, symmetry symbolizes that two people need to walk this Road.
20th century roads of war
One of them is located in Bolivia and is a local landmark. The Bolivian Death Road connects La Paz, on the Altiplano hills, with Coroico, in the Amazon jungle. The difference in height from one point to another is 3450 meters, and the cliff reaches more than 600 meters, while the width of the road itself is no more than three meters. The road was built in the 30s of the last century by Paraguayan prisoners of war. It is almost impossible to drive two cars apart on it, so nowadays it is used more by cyclists than by road transport. And earlier, during active use, up to 300 people died on it annually.
Another military road of death - the iron one - was built on the bones of more than a hundred thousand people. Its construction was organized by Imperial Japan during World War II. It runs between Bangkok (Thailand) and Rangoon (Burma). The construction involved Asian convicts and prisoners of war of the anti-Hitler coalition. The total length of the road is 415 kilometers, of which almost 13 kilometers are bridges. The construction of the Thai-Burma Railway was declared a war crime.
Death road in Russia
There are several famous places in Russia that can claim the title of the Road of Death, but the most famous of them is, perhaps, the "Road of Death" in Lytkarino.
Death can follow on any of the 5 kilometers of the highway section from Novoryazanskoye highway to the entrance to Lytkarino. What the fatality of this particular section of the route is connected with is a mystery for both scientists and adherents of extrasensory perception. Whether the curse of the bride accidentally killed on the wedding day, or the geological rift, has such an effect on road users, but the fact remains - this is where a record number of road accidents occur.
And the meaning in ancient Russian folklore is simple: the roads we choose can be different, but it is inevitable that it is impossible to do without losses on them. And it is so arranged over the earth that the Road of Death can become the Road of Life.
