The famous American sci-fi action movie Transformers was filmed by Michael Bay in 2007 and is based on Hasbro's 1984 series of toys. Hasbro later turned into a real media empire for the creation of comics and cartoons.
The abundance of special effects and stunning scenery made the film a real masterpiece of modern cinema. To create a fantastic action movie, hundreds of cameras and a huge number of extras, dozens of professional stuntmen and kilograms of pyrotechnics were used.
The director of the film, Michael Bay, wanted to deliberately save a large portion of the Transformers budget during filming so that he could use it to create incredible special effects, for which contracts were signed with the automobile corporation General Motors, as well as the American army, as a result of which the director was at the disposal of the director part of military vehicles and special equipment.
Many critics believe that the abundance of special effects and action scenes does not allow the heroes of the film to truly reveal themselves and show themselves.
Setting on the set
Despite the huge number of special effects and the use of computer graphics, the conditions on the set were as close to real ones as possible. Part of the filming took place in the American Chicago, where during the filming a significant part of the city embankment and Michigan Avenue, famous for high skyscrapers and the most expensive shops, were blocked.
The set was a huge jumble of cars, both completely new and completely destroyed, various special equipment, fragments of buildings, stones and pieces of asphalt.
In total, 532 cars were destroyed during the filming of "Transformers".
Smoke machines, tall camera cranes, trucks with filming props and mini-cars for the convenient movement of the crew members around the set, and a helicopter belonging to Paramount Pictures cruised the set continuously. The film crew itself, while working on the film, lived in special mobile homes near the impromptu set. To prevent possible fires, a fire engine from the Chicago Fire Department was constantly present on the set.
The windows of the buildings were specially knocked out, real asphalt was replaced with specially made foam, and unique copies of buildings that were destroyed during the battles of the transformers were also developed.
The destroyed city was created using maximum detail, casual witnesses of the filming involuntarily began to believe in everything that was happening around. Interestingly, real sailors from the US Navy took part in the extras of the film.
The screen time of special effects in the second part of the sequel was 51 minutes, or one third of the film.
Filming of the fourth part of "Transformers"
The shooting of the next part of the famous sci-fi action movie will take place in China, for which Paramount Pictures has already signed an agreement with two Chinese film companies, China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises. The fourth part will be filmed entirely in 3D for the first time.
