Biography: family, childhood, years of study
Denis Vasilievich Maidanov is from the city of Balakovo, located on the banks of the Volga in the Saratov region. He was born on February 17, 1976. My father worked as an engineer, my mother was engaged in the selection of personnel. When Denis was eight years old, his parents filed for divorce. The singer recalled that his father did not take part in his upbringing anymore, and he himself was not too worried about this. To earn extra money, Maidanov's mother got a job in a kindergarten as a night watchman and a janitor. When Denis grew up a little, they together removed the snow and swept the fallen leaves.
He had no problems with his studies. Although the hooligan character sometimes let Maidanov down. For example, after one unsuccessful joke, he was registered in the children's room of the police. He paid for the fact that, together with a friend, set fire to waste paper in the entrance and, having smoked the entire staircase, provoked panic among the residents.
Despite all the tricks and straightforward nature, Maidanov was loved at school. He was known as a star of amateur performances, participated in all cultural events and competitions. And in his free time he attended circles at the local House of Culture, studied at a music school, sang in an ensemble. Even then, Denis tried to compose songs, and his first listeners were the neighboring boys.
After the ninth grade, my mother persuaded her son to enter the chemical-technological college. Exact sciences were hard for him, but active participation in amateur performances saved him. Maidanov was the captain of the KVN team and directed the vocal and instrumental ensemble. For prizes in competitions, he was always given an automatic offset. Even then, Denis understood that he would not make an engineer. Therefore, I went to night school, planning to get a certificate a year earlier.
In 1995, Maidanov managed to enter the Moscow State Institute of Culture and Arts, overcoming the competition of 72 people for 6 places. He became a student of the correspondence department with a degree in Show Program Manager.

Money was sorely lacking. At first he lived with friends, but sometimes he had to spend the night at the station or sleep in a subway car. Finally, the famous producer Yuri Aizenshpis bought the song "Behind the Fog" from Maidanov, which was performed by the singer Sasha. This composition was among the laureates of the "Song of the Year" festival -2002.
