The Eurovision Song Contest is traditionally considered one of the most prestigious, with millions of viewers watching live every year. Dozens of performers compete for the right to enter the competition in the national qualifying rounds, for many of them participation in the final is already a victory. The ultra-modern Crystal Hall concert complex capable of accommodating twenty thousand people was built especially for the competition in Baku.

Russia at Eurovision 2012 was represented by a group from Udmurtia "Buranovskie Babushki", who sang the song Party for Everybody and took a very honorable second place according to the results of voting. The main sympathy of the viewers and the jury of the competition went to the Swedish singer Loreen, who brilliantly performed the composition Euphoria and scored 372 points. This is only slightly less than the record set in 2009 by the Norwegian singer Alexander Rybak - he scored 387 points at a competition in Moscow. The highest mark - 12 points - was given to Lorin by eighteen countries, including Russia. "Buranovskie grandmothers" scored 259 points, which is also a very high score. The third place went to Serbia, its representative Zeljko Joksimovic received 214 points.

According to the results of the Eurovision 2012 contest, its winner Loreen received the main prize - Crystal Microphone and the Best Performer award. Peter Bostrom and Thomas Gisoni, authors of Euphoria, which brought success to the Swedish singer, were awarded the Best Composer award. The prize was also awarded to the host of the competition, Azerbaijani singer Sabina Babaeva. It was she who was awarded the first place by the representatives of the media according to the results of their own voting.

Since the winner of Eurovision 2012 is a Swedish singer, the next music competition in 2013 will be hosted by the capital of Sweden, Stockholm.
