Practice shows that social work with families in Russia is expanding every year. The family, in turn, has a wide range of problems, for the solution of which help and support from the state is needed. It is for this that new specializations of social work are being created.
Social work is the professional activity of helping individuals, groups, communities to improve their quality of life and create favorable conditions for development. Therefore, it is considered as a personal service to help people.
The most famous representatives of this work are the social educator and the worker. They are the link between the client and the community. Social work professionals don't wait to be asked for help. In an ethically acceptable form, they themselves come into contact with the family: they study the psychological, age and material characteristics of people. Based on the information received, they delve into the world of the family, learn about its interests, living conditions and problems.
Then the social worker (teacher) influences the creation of humane, moral and physically healthy relationships in the family. All his actions should be aimed at solving the problem. He must create the conditions necessary for the further full development of the family. For example, a difficult teenager grows up in a family who does not have a relationship with his parents. The social work specialist first delves into the family, into the relationship between its members. Perhaps he will attract workers from other spheres: a psychologist, a teacher, a juvenile affairs inspector. Together they diagnose and solve the problem. As a result, a relationship should be established between their object and his family, as well as with society as a whole.
Social work is very versatile. It is to provide assistance to disabled people, retirees, single-parent families, families of conscripts, large families, student families with children and families who have taken a child under guardianship.
A family left to the mercy of the state can subsequently threaten the well-being of society. Therefore, Centers for social assistance to families and children and helplines are being created in the country. So that citizens can at a difficult moment for them share their problem with someone and expect adequate help.
