The fate of the Russian generals evolved in different ways. Lavr Georgievich Kornilov, a military leader devoted to his homeland, remained in the memory of his descendants an ambiguous personality. There are objective reasons for this impression.
Serve and protect
Some time ago there was a popular funny song about how good it is to be a general. However, clear and unambiguous instructions on how to achieve the rank of general have not yet been written. The biography of the Russian general Lavr Georgievich Kornilov can serve as a general guide to action. Films have been shot, books and dissertations written about the fate of this person in general and about the service to the Motherland in particular. The child was born in 1870. The Cossack family lived on the territory of the Semipalatinsk region, which now belongs to Kazakhstan.
According to the traditions piously observed then, the Cossack had to devote his life to the defense of the borders of the state. At the age of 13, Lavrusha was given by his parent to the cadet corps, located in Omsk. From that moment on, the brilliant career of the future military leader began. It is interesting to note that in order to become a cadet, one had to speak French. And who would teach foreign languages to a boy in the Kazakh steppes? During the first academic year, a Cossack from Semipalatinsk spoke fluent French.
Upon completion of his studies in the cadet corps, Kornilov receives the right to choose a suitable school in order to continue his education. In the army, the rhymed saying was popular: "The brave is in the cavalry, the clever is in the artillery, the drunkard is in the navy, and the fool is in the infantry." Laurus chose the Mikhailovskoe Artillery School and moved to St. Petersburg for further studies. According to his contemporaries, the future infantry general showed not only remarkable learning abilities, but also knew how to get in touch with any person.
Revolutionary fire
Evaluating the track record of Lavr Georgievich, one can single out many features that are interesting for the younger generation. Today, almost nothing is known about his intelligence work. After graduating from the artillery school, Lieutenant Kornilov served for several years in the Turkestan military district. Then he undergoes a full course of study at the Academy of the General Staff. During this period, the student of the Academy arranges his personal life - he marries Taisia Vladimirovna Morkovina. Husband and wife will rarely spend time together.
As a trained specialist, Kornilov was sent on an expedition to the East. Here he is engaged in reconnaissance and observes how the local population lives. When performing specific tasks, he shows ingenuity and creativity. There is a known case when Lavr Georgievich, disguised as a local peasant's mantle, conducted a reconnaissance of British positions in an important direction. When the Russo-Japanese War began, Lieutenant Colonel Kornilov demonstrated his qualities of a successful commander. For which he was promoted in rank and received the corresponding awards.
As a military specialist with a strategic vision of the theater of military operations, Kornilov showed himself during the First World War. Love for the Fatherland and loyalty to the oath distinguished him from many participants in those outrages that began in Russia in the winter of 1917. This period convincingly proved that a talented military man turned out to be a worthless politician. Suffice it to say that the leaders of the Provisional Government used it as a pawn in their games and intrigues. General Kornilov is considered the organizer of the White movement. Untimely death did not allow him to bring the work he had begun to a victorious finale.
