Bertrice Small is an American writer. She is the author of several dozen historical romance novels and stories. Bertris is a member of the American Writers Guild. Also the creator of erotic prose is a member of the American Writers' Association for the romance novel.
Biography
Bertrice Small was born on December 9, 1937 in New York. The writer died at the age of 77 on February 24, 2015. The novelist's parents were David Williams and Doris Steen. Mother and father Bertrice Small worked in the broadcast television industry. The writer attended St. Mary's School for Girls in New York, run by Anglican nuns. She then attended Western Women's College in Ohio. Bertris dropped out of school and went to Katherine Gibbs's secretarial school. She subsequently worked as a secretary for advertising agencies. For 49 years, Bertrice was married to George Small. The writer's husband passed away in 2012. The family brought up a son, Thomas. Bertris had 4 grandchildren. For 30 years she lived on East Long Island.
Career
Bertrice Small began her creative career in 1978. She created books in the historical, fantasy, erotic genres. Small's bestsellers have been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, USA Today, Los Angeles Times. Bertris has received numerous awards including Best Historical Novel, Outstanding Historical Novel, A Career in Historical Fantasy, and several Reviewers' Choice Awards from the Romantic Times. She had a Silver Pen from Affaire de Coeur. In 2004, Bertrice Small was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Romantic Times magazine for her contributions to the genre.
