Anne Mather is the pseudonym of Mildred Grieveson (born October 10, 1946 in England, UK), a popular British writer, author of over 160 love novels. She also signed novels like Caroline Fleming and Cardin Fleming.

Mildred Griveson began writing stories as a child. The first novel she actually completed, Caroline (1965), was also her first book to be published. The 1978 film of the same name was based on her novel Leopard in the Snow (1974).

Personal life and family

Mildred Griveson was born on October 10, 1946 in England. She always wanted to write and for years she did it for her own pleasure. She was engaged in creativity all her childhood, youth and adolescence, telling stories from childhood adventures to hot gypsy passions. Her mother collected them from time to time, when her room became too cluttered, and disposed of these manuscripts.

Mildred married very young and became a housewife. However, it was her husband who suggested that she send one of her stories to the publisher, but the girl never finished any of her stories at the time. For the first time her work was published at the age of 19. At that time, she had already given birth to a child and used every chance to write at least a few lines.

Now Mildred has two grown children, a son and a daughter, and two grandchildren, Abigail and Ben.

Writing career

With the encouragement of her husband, she finally completed the Caroline manuscript. When she was only 19 years old, in 1965 the publishing house Mills & Boon published this work, and it became her first published book, signed under the pseudonym Anne Mather.

However, a small amateur circulation took place earlier. Her first five books were first published in hardcover by Robert Hale Ltd, although they were later published in paperback by Mills & Boon.

The first novel to be released entirely through this publisher was Dangerous Charm in May 1969.

In 1973, she became the author of another novel by the popular publishing house for women, Harlequin Romance. These stories were sensual, full of emotions and plot twists and turns that the female audience appreciated so much. Mildred was chosen to be the author of the series because she, along with Violet Winspeare and Anne Hampson, was the most popular and hard-working of The Harlequin's writers.
