On August 12, 2000, the Kursk submarine sank. This tragedy has worried people around the world. 118 people died on the boat, and the mystery of her death still remains unsolved.
There are several different versions of the death of the Russian submarine, but two of them are considered the most plausible.
Death version number 1
According to the first version, the Kursk nuclear submarine was shot down by a torpedo by a foreign submarine, which was tracking it. The thing is that since the days of the USSR, Russian and NATO submarines have been constantly monitoring each other. During the accident, the Kursk was carrying out exercises, which worked out the possibility of attacking enemy boats. There is a possibility that instead of a training one, there was a real launch of a torpedo. As a result, it could lead to the combat activity of the submarine observing the "Kursk". It is possible that after the warning of the nuclear submarine by sonar parcels, an enemy torpedo hit, after which the detonation of ammunition occurred, which caused two powerful explosions, which were recorded even by large seismological stations. It is impossible to prove the reality of this theoretical reason, since the front compartment of the boat, which could have been hit by a torpedo, was left under water.
In addition, later the Kursk sinking site was bombed with depth charges. Apparently, the authorities deliberately destroyed evidence of a possible attack.
Death version number 2
The second version says that the Kursk nuclear submarine sank as a result of a fire in the torpedo compartment. This version may be quite real. The thing is that before leaving for the exercises, a new peroxide torpedo was loaded on the boat. It is worth noting that the crew of the boat had no experience in operating such torpedoes. Perhaps during the exercise, there was a release of hydrogen peroxide, which was in the torpedo. As a result, a fire and explosion occurred in the torpedo compartment, which led to the detonation of the remaining parts of the ammunition.
There is a possibility that a foreign submarine witnessed this disaster, thanks to which the crash site was quickly discovered.
In addition to these versions, the version of the explosion of the Kursk on a mine left in the sea after the Second World War was also considered. Also, one of the options for the destruction of the nuclear submarine is its collision with an enemy submarine.
Thirteen years later, the version of the death of the Kursk was considered a lot, but the fact remains unchanged - the dead 118 people cannot be returned. The main thing is to prevent a repetition of such a tragedy and to save the lives of the submariners who serve for our safety.
