Gemma Khalid's calling cards were "The Girl from Nagasaki", "Buy Cigarettes", "White Cap". The singer is subject to such styles as chanson, folk, Russian and gypsy romances, courtyard song. Gemma is light on her feet, always ready for the most unexpected tours and travels. The whole world is her home. The singer generously shares her joy of life with listeners and viewers.
Khalid Gemma Iosifovna is a singer whose biography keeps many contradictions. First of all, she became Iosifovna due to a classic mistake in paperwork, thus deleting from the metric of her Moroccan father Yusuf Khalid. However, Gemma herself claims that her hollow name is real. And the name, for anybody not a secret, was given in honor of Gemma from "The Gadfly". However, the singer did not get along with him and chose the pseudonym Jamuna. But that was later.
Childhood
First there was childhood. Mom was too carried away by nature, and dad was a camel driver: as a result of a short relationship, the mother's feelings cooled down, and dad was probably frozen in cold Russia. Due to family passions, the parents of little Gemma parted, and the daughter, who had not been divided in two, was given to the state, just in case. But the baby did not lose heart: music beat in her heart, which healed her wounds. In the boarding school, her shrine was an assembly hall, where there was a piano of her choice. Sneaking up to him, she picked up simple melodies and comprehended her own, only she could understand the world. By the age of six, with the help of her grandmother, Gemma began her studies at a music school, where she immediately caused a furor among teachers. At the age of 15, she masterfully masters the guitar, sang in transitions, later - with brilliance she conquers Gnesinka. Talent? Undoubtedly, but how much labor, how much effort, how much courage has been invested - cannot be conveyed. Music was Gemma's endless love, her life - and at the same time - hellish work.
Creativity and career
At the festival "Vitebsk 88", when "accidentally" the competition results were lost, she did not break down and performed with the song of Wlodzimierz Korcz, taking first place and receiving generous praise from Piekha herself. I must say, Korch also noted Gemma, because for many years they worked in a creative pair: he wrote music to the poems popular at that time, she performed.
Later - there were Shabrov, Tanich, Derbenev. Djema regularly participated in various shows and programs (including the popular then “Who came to us?”). Gemma released her first disc in 1996. "Underground pass". Later, there were more albums, but the main thing happened in 2009. She heard the fateful fucking song "The Girl from Nagasaki" performed by Vysotsky. She could not fail to fulfill it. No one could oppose Vysotsky's hoarse baritone with anything close to Gemma's velvet contralto. The song, of course, became a hit. And - of course - it was included in the album of the same name.
Gemma's popularity grew, and concerts in the United States loomed on the horizon. There they stayed, along with Gemma. At the moment she gives concerts, leads Russian discos, released three albums and reissued her "Underground Passage". He does not advertise his personal life so much that there are not even rumors about it. One of the zealous fans wrote about Gemma: "Pure as a spring." Yes, you can't say it more correctly.
