The Caucasus is the natural border of Russia. For centuries, high mountains have protected the country from the armed expansion of Iran and Turkey. In these mountains, the Arabs were also stopped, carrying the green banner of the prophet with fire and sword.

About the slogan "Stop feeding the Caucasus"

The Caucasus is a geographical region in the South of Russia, mainly mountainous. About a hundred small nations live on this territory, some of which are in a state of smoldering armed conflict with each other. The conquest of the Caucasus by Russia lasted for several centuries and began with the founding of a military fortress by the Cossacks of Tsar Ivan the Terrible in the Mozdok tract. The conquest of the mountain peoples was very bloody, and some of them are still fighting for their independence.

The Caucasus clearly separates Europe from Asia, therefore it serves as a clash of civilizations, today the Christian and Muslim worlds collide there.

In Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria, a guerrilla war is actually going on. The population of the Caucasus is very militant, and Caucasians often arrange clashes with representatives of the local Russian population. In this regard, the slogan of the national democrats “Stop feeding the Caucasus” has recently become popular. Opposition forces proposed to release Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan from Russia, leaving only the peoples loyal to the Russians. However, this proposal aroused indignation not only among those in power, but also among the people of the Caucasus themselves, who considered it irresponsible and even stupid.

If the Caucasus is separated

Nevertheless, the Caucasus is a subsidized region with a high level of corruption, which receives a large amount of budget money. Calls for his separation come mainly from the Russian population of the middle lane. Say, enough to pay tribute to Kadyrov, it's time to learn to live independently.

There are several counterarguments against the secession of the Caucasus. First of all, we already had a precedent when, after the Khasavyurt agreements, Chechnya was de facto independent for five years. Over the years, the self-proclaimed republic of Ichkeria turned into a bandit enclave where drug trafficking flourished, kidnapping and even slavery were practiced. Also, the republic has become a hotbed of extremist forms of Islam.

After the defeat of the Ichkerian bandit formations and the establishment of legal power, Chechnya gradually turned into the most developed region of the North Caucasus.

Therefore, experts say that the liberation of the Caucasus could seriously radicalize the region and even turn it into a springboard for an offensive by Wahhabi forces. Not to mention that the natural southern border of the Caucasus Mountains will be violated.
