Fred Trump is a descendant of immigrants who managed to realize the "American Dream" by building a huge empire. But his main personal success, perhaps, is the upbringing of his son, who became the 45th president of the United States.
Biography
Frederick Christ Trump (Fred Trump) was born on October 11, 1905 in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, USA. His father, Friedrich Trump, arrived in America on October 7, 1885. He was a simple German hairdresser who fled to the United States to escape three years of compulsory military service. America of those times welcomed the young specialist with open arms.
During the gold rush, he managed to earn enough money to later return to his home village of Kallstadt. At that time he was 33 years old. Here he met Elizabeth Christ, whom he married on August 26, 1902.
Elizabeth was only 22 years old and, having arrived in America, she was terribly homesick. In 1904, the couple returned to Kallstadt. But the Bavarian authorities suspected Frederick of deliberately evading military service in the army. In 1905, the young family was forced to return to the United States. The couple had three children. Fred became the second child in the family, in addition to the eldest daughter Elizabeth and the youngest son John.
In 1918, during a flu epidemic, his father, Friedrich Trump, dies and the welfare of the family passes to Elizabeth. A business woman by nature, she decides to start a real estate business. On the lands that she inherited after the death of her husband, she built houses, which she then sold. With the funds paid by the new owners to pay off the mortgage loans, the family could afford a very decent life.
Fred was interested in his mother's affairs. He was attracted by the construction business and when the boy was 15 years old, Elizabeth decided to found the company "Elizabeth Trump & Son". When Fred Trump turned 22, she was officially registered. Elizabeth Trump remained close to Fred until the end of her days, taking part in the management of the family business.
The last years of his life, the businessman suffered from Alzheimer's disease. In June 1999, he contracted pneumonia. And on June 25, at the age of 93, he was gone. Frederick Trump is buried in a Lutheran cemetery in Middle Village along with his wife and son (Fred Jr.).
Career
Fred Trump's parents taught him to work from an early age. As a 15-year-old teenager, he continued his father's work with his mother. The result was the real estate company Elizabeth Trump & Son. A few years after graduating from high school, he built his first house, which he later sold, making a significant profit.
In the early 1930s, Franklin Roosevelt pursued a policy of helping workers buy housing through housing subsidies. Fred Trump, who foresaw the rise in demand for real estate, directed his energies towards building single-family homes in the Queens area.
During the Great Depression, he once again showed entrepreneurial resourcefulness by opening a huge self-service store. The main idea was that by reducing the cost of customer service, a favorable price for the goods was established for buyers. Of course, this idea attracted buyers and, subsequently, allowed Trump to sell the store at a very favorable price for himself.
His business skills allowed him to be successful even during the Second World War. True, Trump had to change direction in construction a little. He began to build living quarters for the navy. And with the end of the war, more respectable houses for veterans were built.
In 1963, Fred Trump began construction on the Trump Village, a seven-building condominium on Coney Island.
In 1968, one of the sons, Donald, joined Fred Trump. Three years later, it was he who took the place of the president of the company.
Frederick Trump's ability to set goals and achieve them despite the difficulties that arise, combined with entrepreneurial talent, have allowed to build a huge empire and, in general, achieve incredible success.
