TV presenter Sergei Sholokhov is better known to the modern generation of TV viewers as one of the inventors of memes. However, this serious journalist has a degree in art history and is also an academician of the Nika Film Academy and is considered one of the best film critics in Russia.

Biography
Sergey Sholokhov was born in 1958 in Leningrad. Apparently, the family laid the foundation for his interests: his parents were intelligent people and paid much attention to art and science. Mom Galina Sholokhova and father Leonid Glikman raised their son as a humanitarian, and when he grew up, they sent him to a school with in-depth study of English and Hindi.
After school, Sholokhov went to the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Leningrad State University, but did not pass on points and went to philology. Here he gladly took up what he loved - the study of literature.
It is not known what prompted the young philologist to enter a theater university after graduating from Leningrad State University. However, he became a graduate student of the famous LGITMiK and graduated from there as a candidate of sciences.
Journalist career
Sholokhov's first serious job after graduation was as a junior editor at Leningrad television. It was not a difficult job for a young specialist, and he began to put forward his ideas, offer creative solutions to familiar things. And soon he, together with venerable journalists, took part in the creation of the programs "300 meters of hope" and "Monitor".
Sergei seemed to feel what the audience needs, how to present information to make it interesting. And this instinct helped him become one of the founders of the "Fifth Wheel" project. He became both the author and the host of this program, the rating of which soon became quite high.
Sholokhov became famous in 1991 - then his author's program "Quiet House" was released. The very first release was really provocative. It was called "Lenin - Mushroom".
The program was based on completely fictitious information that Lenin allegedly consumed hallucinogenic mushrooms and turned into a mushroom himself. The presenters brought the topic to the point of absurdity, although they discussed it with serious faces. It was pure experiment, with which Sholokhov wanted to show that TV viewers are very suggestible people, and they can "rub in" any information, even the most implausible. The fact is that the audience really took everything seriously.
More than a dozen years have passed since then, but this issue is still cited and cited as an example of public opinion research through a TV show.
As a result, the project "Quiet House" became very popular, and it began to be constantly broadcast on RTR, where it ran for almost seven years. Since 1998, the program began to appear on the first channel.
The TV presenter's career went uphill - in 1999 he became the general director of the production center "Petersburg - Culture".
As a journalist, Sholokhov also fully realized himself: he writes materials for the most authoritative magazines and newspapers. In 1998 he received the prestigious journalism award “Golden Pen”.
Personal life
In the Sholokhov family, everything is also in order: his wife Tatyana Mokvina is a writer and film critic. They have two sons: Tatiana's son from his first marriage, Vsevolod, and a common son, Nikolai.
