Elena Potapova is rightfully considered one of the most talented and successful Soviet ballerinas and worthy ballet teachers. She was born on February 16, 1930 in the city of the Middle Volga region of Russia - Samara. Most recently, Potapova celebrated her own 88th birthday.
Biography
Elena's training started at the Samara Palace of Children's and Youth Creativity, which at that time was called the ballet studio of the Kuibyshev Palace of Pioneers. The head of this institution was a talented and unique person - Natalya Vladimirovna Danilova. This is one of the famous ballerinas who have brought up more than several dozen students. Under the direction of Natalya Vladimirovna, wonderful and dramatic ballet performances have been repeatedly created.
The political conflict between the states provoked the move of Elena Potapova's family to the capital of Ukraine - Kiev. The girl continued to show particular interest in ballet. For this reason, in 1946-1948, she continued her narrowly focused training in the choreographic arts organization. This institution was under the wing of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. T. Shevchenko. It is worth noting that this time Elena Potapova successfully developed her talent under the guidance of the Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR and an accomplished choreographer - Natalia Viktorovna Verekudova.
Career and achievements
Elena's rapidly developing career as a permanent soloist at the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. T. Shevchenko lasted 31 years, namely from 1948 to 1979. During this period, she brilliantly implemented about 50 leading parties. In 1977, Potapova decided to realize herself as a choreographer of one of her favorite arts - theater. By today's standards, she has achieved some success in her field. Due to her developed talent, Elena was repeatedly invited to the role of a jury member in many international competitions among ballet dancers. Most of these proposals received a rosy response from the ballerina and direct further participation in judging. It is worth mentioning that the following events became the most memorable and promising proposals for joining the group of specialists awarding prizes:
- International competition of ballet dancers and choreographers. It has been held in Moscow several times;
- International Youth Competition of Classical Dance "Crystal Shoe". It was organized in Kharkov;
- Various All-Union competitions for young artists and choreographers;
- All-Union review of choreographic schools of the USSR;
- Other popular events that require a decent commission.
Elena Potapova managed to diversify her career. First of all, this is work as a teacher-tutor at the Turkish National Opera. This institution still functions in the capital of the Turkish Republic of Ankara. For more than a decade, Elena has devoted herself to teaching at Japanese ballet schools. One of them was the International Center for Classical Dance named after A. Pavlova and V. Nezhinsky "Ochi-Ballet" in Nagoya, the other - "Atsuko-Ballet" in Osaka.
There is one more undoubted confirmation of the great achievements and significant contribution to the development of the profile direction. It consists in giving the name of one of the dance schools in Japan named after Elena Potapova.
An important event was the ballet dance competition named after the People's Artist of the USSR Elena Potapova, which began its existence in 2012. According to official information, 100 Japanese children participated in it.
Personal life
Elena's family consists of a narrow circle of people. Her only husband is her support - director Robert Vysotsky. With this man, Potapova has a common daughter, Alla, who to some extent followed in her mother's footsteps and found her vocation in the theater as a director.
