Humans tend to make mistakes. Sometimes he even does things that he himself considers reprehensible. He considers himself a sinner, repents, decides never to do this again, but … At the slightest opportunity he repeats his unseemly actions and again scolds himself. You can learn not to repeat your old sins, but it takes patience and perseverance.
It is necessary
- - notebook;
- - a pen.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to understand why you think one or another of your actions is reprehensible. Maybe you were taught from childhood that it is not good to do this. It is possible that your actions cause someone physical or mental suffering. It may not be customary to behave in this way in the circle to which you belong or would like to belong. Write down the results of your reflections. This will help you figure out if your behavior is truly sinful.
Step 2
If you come to the conclusion that your behavior is indeed sinful, consider why you did those acts. Try to separate the reason from the reasons. The reason may be some external circumstance that immediately preceded the act, while the reasons sometimes have to be looked for quite deeply. For example, in early childhood.
Step 3
If you can see a good therapist, do it. But don't expect him to take responsibility for your actions. It will simply help you discover what prompts you to take action and what the reasons are.
Step 4
Consider whether you are willing to share your sins with an outsider. This can be, for example, a priest if you are a believer. Try to turn to a wise priest who will not only forgive your sins, but also show you the ability to cope in the future with those reasons that make you want to commit an act, which you then have to repent of. You need to confess in such a way that your words do not contain even a shadow of bravado. Understand that you shouldn't be proud of what you did and praise yourself for having the strength to share it.
Step 5
Do not swear, even to yourself, that you will never do this again. Prohibitions, even if they come from the person himself, often cause a backlash. A person begins to want to commit an unseemly act several times stronger than before. The surest way is to avoid situations in which you previously wanted to sin, as much as possible. It is easier to refuse than to overcome temptations later.
Step 6
Come up with an interesting and useful business. Maybe you have long wanted to paint, model building or crochet, but you spent too much time and energy in situations in which it was very difficult to keep from sinning. An interesting new activity will give you strength.
Step 7
Imagine yourself in the place of the person to whom your sins cause physical or mental suffering. If this person is really dear to you, you will be able to cope with yourself and stop offending or upsetting him. Among those offended by your actions, there may be completely strangers who are not to blame for anything in front of you. Think about what you would do if you were treated the same way you treated them.
Step 8
Start a notebook of useful and shameful things. Divide the page into 2 parts. In one column, write down what you have done, good or bad. Rate yourself. You can even write down your actions with pens of different colors. Mark good deeds with green, for example, and bad deeds with red or black. Write sincerely everything that you have accomplished during the day. Look at the ratio of colors on the page. Make sure the entire notebook is filled with green ink.
