Biography
The future composer was born and raised on the banks of the Volga. Therefore, it is not surprising that many of his songs are dedicated to the marine theme, coastal nature.
Valentin Alekseevich was born in 1908 in the city of Tetyushi, which was located in the Kazan province. Now this territory belongs to Tatarstan.
At first he decided to acquire an "earthly" specialty, so he went to work on the railway as a technician. But Valentin Alekseevich from childhood showed an outstanding talent of the composer. He could pick up tunes by ear. It is not surprising that the young man decides to continue his education in obedience to his calling. Therefore, then Valentin Makarov goes to a music college. At the age of 23, he left the walls of this educational institution, having completed a course in the class of composition.
But Makarov does not stop there. In 1935 he entered the State Conservatory named after the great composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, which is located in Moscow.
In 1938, the young musician leaves the walls of this educational institution, acquiring a specialized education.
Career
In parallel with his studies, Makarov works. But he no longer betrays his calling. So, since 1927, Valentin Alekseevich has been playing the piano in Moscow cinemas. There was still a silent movie at that time. Therefore, the profession of a taper was in great demand. Such specialists played the piano located not far from the screen. When there was a tense moment in the film, the pianist showed it with the appropriate music. The same applies to comic, tragic situations. Similar emotions were expressed by musicians playing pianos.
Thus Makarov worked until 1938. In parallel, he is the director of choirs in the city of Moscow and in the region of the capital, created at various clubs. In 1938, Valentin Alekseevich also became a methodologist of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions, where he worked until 1940.
War
When the Great Patriotic War began, the composer went to serve in the political department of the Black Sea Fleet. He was close to the front, created several works about the hero city of Sevastopol, its defenders. Among the lyric songs there is also a comic one called "Harmony". Indeed, during the war, during the respite, it was necessary to know how to have a rest. And the songs helped.
Peaceful time
After the end of the war, the work of Valentin Alekseevich was replenished with many more works. He writes health resort Victory, October, creates a choral song "Great Moscow", "By the fire", "Russian accordion" and others.
