People's addiction to each other is called love or passion, craving for an object - fetishism. This concept came into circulation not so long ago, although the attraction of a person to a thing was described by Sigmund Freud.
Fetish
The word fetish means an inanimate object endowed with power over a person. This power can manifest itself in different forms, from his religious beliefs to personal intimate preferences due to closeness to a thing / with a thing.
The word fetish can have several meanings. Even among the various indigenous tribes, shamans called a fetish an object endowed, in their opinion, with magical powers, helping in rituals and able to drive out diseases. Fetishism can have religious significance in such cases.
In a more common concept, a fetish is an object of a person's intimate life, to which he pays special attention. It can be a certain part of the body, material or even a smell that causes attraction, sexual desire.
Fetishist
A fetishist is usually a person who is prone to this kind of attachment. This term appeared at the beginning of the eighteenth century; it was introduced into circulation by V. Bossman, a famous Dutch traveler. Since then, this phenomenon has been widely studied, sometimes it is attributed to mental disorders.
Usually, a fetish becomes an object that, for some reason, struck a person's consciousness: if it is any thing, then a fetishist dependent on it singles out it or other similar ones, similar from a whole range of objects, endows it with special qualities, sometimes, spiritualizes.
Anything can become an object of a fetish.
Manifestations of fetishism
There are three forms of manifestation of fetishism. Light is considered to be a form in which a thing does not become an object of sexual lust or a cult, usually in such cases we are talking about talismans and totems. This kind of fetishism is common among various tribes - they use various animal figurines made of wood or stone, or even their images, as protection.
A number of scientists attribute to light fetishism and the tendency to paint the skin - this concept includes body drawings and tattoos.
Fetishism of the second degree is based on a person's taste preferences for something. This is the norm, all people like something, but something they don't. This kind of fetish includes body parts or wardrobe items, smells, colors, a person can experience pleasure from sensations or just the sight of some things. The fetishist's attraction is aimed at inanimate things that in themselves do not carry any sexual connotation, but a person subject to a fetish sees them as an object of attraction.
A deep fetish is associated with the replacement of sexual attraction to a person with an attraction to a thing. Such fetishism refers to mental and behavioral disorders, but despite this, this disease does not require medical intervention. Intervention is only necessary when fetishism adversely affects a person's social well-being.
