Tom Hanks is known to the modern viewer for the recently released film Captain Philips (2013), in which the actor played the main role of the captain of a ship captured by Somali pirates. An intense, two-hour psychological drama with action elements filled with clear realism, quality execution and reflections on the modern economy and social inequality between the lines.

Nevertheless, Hanks' acting career knows many other diverse roles, because the American actor began his career in cinema back in 1980 in the movie "He Knows You Are Alone" (1980).

Over the next years, perhaps only the comedy "The Bachelor Party" (1984) was remembered, in which the actor plays the main role of Rick Gasco, whom his friends arrange a bachelor party in a hotel room, but the bride finds out about it. This painting may be familiar to the older generation.

I remember the comedy detective Turner and Hooch (1989), in which Hanks, together with a charming Bordeaux bulldog, investigates crimes. A bulldog named Hooch is a witness to the crime and Detective Turner takes a pet with the hope of solving the case and the hope is not in vain.

In 1993, Sleepless in Seattle (1993) appears. The film tells about the relationship between the widower Sam and the journalist Annie Reed. Sam's son calls the radio station and tells how much he wants the family to become complete again, the presenter asks to call the widower, who gives a heartfelt monologue, which caused more than 2,000 calls from women who decided to start a family. Journalist Annie Reed is assigned to write an article about Sam, but their relationship develops further than a purely professional one.

A year later, Forrest Gump (1994) appears, in which Hanks creates an amazing image of the mentally retarded, but with an all-encompassing sincerity of Forrest Gump. The film tells the story of an amazing guy and, in parallel, the history of America from Avis to Vietnam.

Of course, other memorable films with an outstanding actor should be noted. For example, Apollo 13 (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Rogue (2000), Terminal (2004), Angels and Demons (2009), Larry Crown (2011).
