It is believed that the English word rapport comes from the French "rapport" - attitude, connection, in some cases the meaning of "rapporter" is taken - to bring back, to return. But today this concept is also used to refer to processes in psychotherapy, hypnosis, NLP, as well as in art, oddly enough.
Art. Here, rapport is used just in the sense of rapporter - to bring back, since it means a repeating part of a pattern or ornament. This can be a rapport of a border, knitting, a wallpaper pattern, a carpet pattern or weaving fabric. The use of rapport in the manufacture of various interior items or clothing is a modern and fairly common technique. However, it requires compliance with the maximum accuracy of the repeatable area and the use of additional materials, because careful alignment of the beginning and end of the rapport is necessary, for example, when wallpapering the walls.
In psychotherapy, the term rapport refers to the process of establishing trust and understanding between the patient and the therapist. It is rapport that can serve as some guarantee of success in the treatment of depression and nervous disorders. The patient should feel that his doctor is in tune with him. Then the level of mutual understanding will help the patient to be sincere, to realize that his attending physician sympathizes with him, wants to help and can do it.
Rapport in hypnosis means the interaction of the hypnotist with the hypnotized in such a way that the latter reacts narrowly only to the actions (verbal or verbal) of the one who hypnotized him. Such a person remains insensitive to other sources of suggestion, which is explained by the presence of excited zones in the cerebral cortex during hypnotic sleep. It is these zones that are rapport zones.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) also uses the term rapport extensively. In this case, it means the establishment of interaction in a group of people, the emergence of an atmosphere of trust and benevolence. Today NLP is used in many areas of human activity, in business, education, family relationships. The rapport allows us to understand each other more fully and deeper, makes it possible to invisibly influence people, achieving the desired results.
The simplest methods of establishing rapport are known to everyone. This is copying or adjusting the intonation of the voice, body position, movements. A person is drawn to such a thing, and this allows not only to attract the necessary individual to him, but also, having entered his way of thinking, to better understand and adapt to him.
