Biography
Alexey Yashin was born in 1973 in Sverdlovsk, now Yekaterinburg. He realized his sporting vocation very early, and it is not surprising - mother and father were both athletes. Dad played handball and mom was a volleyball player. Two sons grew up in the Yashin family: Alexei and his younger brother Dmitry. Both were accustomed to sports discipline from childhood and both chose sports as their profession. The parents made a great contribution to the development of interest in sports in their sons.
For example, the elder Alexei started skating at the age of five and soon began to skate quite well. And when they gave him a stick, it became very difficult to get him out of the field. As a teenager, of course, they played with the boys in the yard, imagining themselves to be great hockey players.
Moreover, Alexey studied very well at school: he had high marks in mathematics and physics. But already at that time he devoted a large amount of time to hockey.
There were several decent hockey teams in Sverdlovsk at that time, and when Luch's coach saw Yashin's technique, he immediately invited him to his place. Then the talented young hockey player is lured into Avtomobilist, an even more prestigious team. Here he already played in the Higher League. Soon Yashin's finest hour came - he was invited to Dynamo Moscow. He immediately agreed and became a metropolitan and an athlete with great prospects at the same time.
After school, Yashin entered the Ural Forestry Institute to study a technologist. However, it was not so easy to combine study and constant training in the hockey team, and the university had to quit. Right from his student days, Alexei went to professional hockey, because even then he could see a talent for this game.
Hockey career
From 1991 to 1992, Yashin became a champion in the CIS championship with Dynamo, then there was a victory in the Youth Hockey League championship.
When Alexey was only nineteen years old, he had already played for the Ottawa Senators and in his first season became the best player in the club. He played here for eight seasons.
Then Yashin returned to Russia, played for Moscow CSKA, and in 1998 he returned to the Ottawa Senators, and in the status of team captain. He was the first Russian hockey player to become the captain of an NHL club on a full-time basis.
Then there was the American club "New York Islanders" - here he was also doomed to captain's duties.
At the same time, Yashin played for the national team with full dedication, he even received the unofficial title of "Captain Russia".
Yashin finished his career in 2012, but now he is engaged with young hockey players and sometimes goes on the ice himself.
Personal life
Alexey is not married, he is in a relationship with Carol Alt - she works as a model and actress, and constantly occupies top positions in various world ratings, although young models could bypass her by age.
Yashin and Alt met at the NHL awards ceremony - Alexei noticed a bright brunette and came up to meet. This was in 1999 and they have been together ever since.
