early years
Historical events leave a deep imprint on the fate of individuals. When a world war is raging, a person has to submit to the prevailing circumstances. Vladimir Vladimirovich Kunin was born on June 19, 1927 in an intelligent family. Parents lived in the famous city of Leningrad. My father worked as a director at a local film studio. Mother was in charge of the subscription department in the city library. The child grew and developed in a supportive environment. I learned to read early and in a short period of time I "studied" all the books in my home library.
When the war began, my father went to the front. Mother did not survive the first blockade winter. The boy was evacuated together with other orphans to Kazakhstan. In 1944, when Vladimir was seventeen years old, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. The conscript was trained in the military aviation school of shooters and bombers. For several months he served in the long-range bomber aviation regiment. After the victory in the fall of 1945, the unit was disbanded. Kunin had to serve for another five years in the ranks of the service personnel at various airfields.
Creative activity
After demobilization from the ranks of the armed forces in 1951, Kunin decided to get a specialized education at the Lesgaft Institute of Physical Education. Due to a conflict with the teacher, Vladimir was unable to complete the full course of study. After leaving the institute, he began performing in the circus with acrobatic performances. For almost six years everything went well. But one day Kunin was seriously injured and wandered around hospitals for a whole year. There was no talk of returning to the arena. During this period, Vladimir, lying in a hospital bed, wrote several stories that were published on the pages of the magazine "Soviet Circus".
After completing his treatment, Kunin began working as a correspondent for the newspaper "Soviet Culture". While traveling around the country, the aspiring writer gathered an interesting fact and wrote down a variety of stories. In 1966, the author's first book entitled "Real Men" was published. The book includes the story "The Chronicle of a Dive Bomber" and ten stories under the heading "About the circus and not about the circus." A year later, the cult film about "dive bombers" was released.
