The popular TV game “What? Where? When? dates back to 1975. Over the long period of its existence, the game has undergone many changes, but its principle and rules have remained the same.
The birth of the game
The birthday of this TV game falls on September 4, 1975. Previously, the program was positioned as a family quiz. On the air, two families competed, each of which had to answer 11 questions. The shooting took place in two different places: first in one family's apartment, then in another. The art of editing helped to reunite the two pictures into a single program. After a year of the game's existence, it has changed. Program “What? Where? When? became a youth club. The players were students from different faculties of Moscow State University. Each played for himself, the top pointed at the player who must answer the question of the viewers. There was no minute of discussion or reflection, the answer had to be given immediately. Scientists, honorary academicians were invited to evaluate the answers.
In the early years of the TV game, only a few programs were filmed a year.
Game changes
In 1997, the game acquired new colors again. Now the viewer did not see the presenter, but heard only his voice. There was a minute of discussion, and the top was pointing not at the player, but at a letter from the viewer. A tradition has emerged to present prizes for the best question. And for each correct answer, the team received a book. Since then, Vladimir Voroshilov has become the main host of the game.
Voroshilov was called incognito Ostankino, because viewers knew only his voice well, no one saw the presenter in the frame.
Change of the leader
Global changes came to the program after the death of its permanent host. His place was taken by Boris Kryuk. For a long time, the viewer did not know the name of the presenter, because his voice was processed on a computer. In 2001, an experimental series of games took place. No one knew if she would be in demand and rating after the change of the leader. But everything turned out well. Boris Kryuk made many adjustments to the course of the game. In 2002, 4 series of games were played for the first time: summer, autumn, spring, winter. The program began to be broadcast not on Saturday, as it was before, but on Friday. In each series, the first three games are qualifying. If a team qualifies for the Spring Series, then it qualifies for the Summer Series Finals, and so on.
When to watch the show
In May 2014, viewers of the First Channel will be able to watch the games of the summer series live. Andrey Supranovich's team will play in the first qualifying game. The game will take place on May 17th. Subsequent games will be on May 24 (Viktor Sidnev's team), May 31 (Boris Belozerov's team) and June 7 (Ales Mukhin's team).
