Many people love music. However, there are people who love her more than others, and they are ready not only to listen to works written in different genres, but also perfectly understand the intricacies of one direction or another. They are most often called music lovers.
Where did the word come from?
The word "music lover" came to the Russian language from Greek. "Melos" means "music", but "man" is already a Slavic root. If you put both roots together, it turns out that a music lover is a person who is attracted by music. This concept came into the Russian language relatively recently, when the first records appeared, and, accordingly, the opportunity to collect them. At first, the passionate collectors of gramophone and vinyl records, cassette tapes and cassettes were called music lovers.
Is every music lover a music lover?
People who barely take their headphones out of their ears are quite common. However, not all of them can be considered music lovers. For some, the music is just a background, they need a certain level of noise. Without this, they feel out of place. Most often, such background lovers will not distinguish one group from another, they absolutely do not care what is recorded on their player. They are indifferent to music, therefore they are not music lovers.
Is the music lover omnivorous?
Music lovers, like other people who are very passionate about something, are not at all omnivorous. Among them there are generalists who are equally well versed in the classics and directions of "heavy metal". But most often a music lover prefers one or several directions - for example, classical and folk, classical and rock of the middle of the last century, folk and metal. There are also fans of one style who know absolutely everything about it, and have only a general idea about other directions.
Is it good to be a music lover?
Any strong hobby has its positive and negative sides. The universal music lover easily converges with people and in any company turns out to be a welcome guest, since he is well versed in musical directions. Collections of true music lovers help manufacturers create a series of discs - for example, back in Soviet times, a collection of the famous Leningrad collector M. Krzhanovsky was used for a large series of V. Vysotsky's records.
Music lovers participate in radio programs dedicated to the history of a particular musical direction. An interesting collection of records can also become the basis for a museum. However, it also happens that a person who is very keen on music simply does not see anything else. His whole life is limited to the search for records, which sometimes turns into a monoid. This may pass over time, but it may remain for a lifetime. It is impossible to cure a person from this, especially if he is already an adult. You can try to show a teenager that there is still a lot of interesting things in the world that will make his life more enjoyable, but will not interfere with his passion for music.
