Cave's childhood and first musical projects

Nicholas Cave was born on September 22, 1957 in the Australian town of Warrachnabil. The father of the future rock star (his name is Colin Frank) worked as an English teacher, and his mother (her name is Dawn) was a librarian. Nick Cave studied at the private school Caulfield, and after graduation he continued his education at the art college.

In 1975, Nick formed the rock group Boys Next Door with his friend Mick Harvey. In 1980, one of the band's songs - "Shivers" - was banned from broadcasting on the radio, and in this regard, the guys decided to change the name of the band to The Birthday Party. The band played very aggressive post-punk and gothic rock, in a way their sound and style were ahead of their time. The group toured extensively, including in Europe, but eventually broke up for a number of reasons in 1983.

Creativity and personal life of a musician from 1984 to 2000

Soon, a talented Australian guy (who had moved to England by that time) assembled a new rock band - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The first album of this group was released in 1984 and was called "From Her To Eternity". The disc received mostly positive reviews from critics and was received with interest by the audience. In the next four years, the band released a number of interesting albums - "The Firstborn Is Dead" (1985), "Your Funeral … My Trial" (1986), "Kicking Against the Pricks" (1986), "Tender Prey" (1988))

And in 1989, Cave tried himself in the field of a writer - he wrote and published the novel And Behold the Donkey of the Angel of God. It was translated into Russian by Ilya Kormiltsev at the beginning of the 2000s.

In 1990, Nick Cave, where he met in Brazilian Sao Paulo with a local journalist Vivian Carneiro, and soon she became his first official wife. Nika and Vivian were married for 6 years and divorced in 1996.

These years were very fruitful in terms of creativity, at this time the Nick Cave team released the albums "The Good Son", "Let Love In", "Henry's Dream". Among the most significant works of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are traditionally the 1996 album "Murder Ballads". It is here in the list of tracks that you can find a dark slow ballad, which Cave performed with the famous singer Kylie Minogue "Where The Wild Roses Grow". She has greatly increased the popularity of the Australian musician. This, of course, was facilitated by a very beautiful video, where Minogue plays the victim, and Cave the killer. By the way, the text of this ballad is based on a medieval legend.

In 1999, Nick Cave married a second time - to the model Susie Bick, and this marriage continues to this day. In addition to this, it should be noted that in 2000, Susie gave birth to two twins from Cave - Arthur and Earl.

Nick Cave in recent years

In 2006, Nick Cave unexpectedly created a side project - the "Grinderman" quartet, which had a "garage", simplified, compared to the main project, sound. In 2007, an album of this experimental group was released, and he also received the name "Grinderman". Several years later, the disc "Grinderman 2" appeared, after which the project was closed - the musicians concentrated on creating new material for The Bad Seeds.

In 2009, Nick Cave presented his second novel, The Death of Bunny Munroe. This novel, like the first, was quite successful, and it was also translated into Russian.

At the beginning of 2014, the premiere of a documentary film about Cave - "20,000 days on Earth" took place. In the same 2014, his new book was published under the title "The Song of the Sanitary Bag". This book, along with poems, includes diary entries made during one of the concert tours in the cities of America.

In 2015, a great misfortune happened in the family of Nick Cave. One of his twin sons, Arthur, died in an accident. And in the latest album Bad Seeds, which was released in September 2016 and called Skeleton Tree, this tragedy is certainly reflected. And on the whole, this album turned out to be very lyrical and chamber.
