James has played more than two dozen roles on television and in big movies. He never aspired to be famous and did not become a Hollywood star. Marsters has dedicated his life to creativity, which for him is both a pleasure, a job and a hobby.

Childhood and adolescence

James was born in the United States, in the city of Greenville, in 1962, on August 20. He spent his entire childhood in Modesto, where the family moved shortly after his birth. The child was quiet, calm and very shy, and tried not to stand out from his peers. And only the theater and the stage helped the boy to reveal his talent and feel inner freedom.

While still at school, James began to participate in theatrical performances and his first role was the donkey Eeyore in the play "Winnie the Pooh". It was then that he felt that he really wanted to become a real actor and devote his life to theater. Not a single school performance was complete without the participation of James, and immediately after receiving secondary education, the young man went to enter the school of actors, where he studied for 2 years.

In his interviews, Marsters said more than once that it was the acting school that gave him everything to get a specialty and become a professional in his field. He studied according to the Stanislavsky system, which teaches future actors to fully get used to the role and become one with their character.

After studying acting, James travels to New York to continue his education. But, having entered the prestigious educational institution of Juilliard, he leaves him after two years, believing that training does not give him the opportunity to reveal his acting potential and experiment on stage.

After dropping out of school, James begins to look for work in order to somehow make ends meet. He worked part-time in small restaurants, first as a waiter and then as a manager. Little by little, he began to understand that the lifestyle that he is now leading will not allow him to engage in creativity. He soon moved to Chicago to start a new life.

Creative career

James is lucky and in Chicago he meets actors who, like himself, want to play on stage and create new, experimental performances. This is how a new youth theater emerged, where James played his first major role in Shakespeare's The Tempest. There he also meets his future wife, who bore him a son. True, the couple soon divorced due to the fact that his wife began to cheat on Marsters.

After a while, James goes to Los Angeles, where he decides to try his hand at cinema in order to earn money to support his son. He is invited to audition in the movie "Buffy", which he successfully passes and gets the main role, first for the first season of the series, and then for all subsequent ones. Thus began James' career in cinematography.

Marsters starred in a number of TV series: Smallville, Millennium, Lie to Me, Supernatural and many others, where he mostly gets episodic roles.

In addition to working in films, James became interested in music and for some time worked with the group Ghost of the Robot.

For his roles, the actor was a multiple nominee and winner of the Saturn and Golden Satellite awards, and also received the Face of the Future Generation award in 2002.

Personal life

The first wife of the actor was Liane Davidson, whose marriage lasted several years. The couple had their only son, Sullivan.

With his second wife, Patricia Rahman, the actor met for a long time and only in 2011 they got married, having arranged a modest wedding in Los Angeles.
