In adolescence, children begin to distance themselves from their parents, trying to become different from them and from society as a whole. Young people are united in interest groups, where the participants cultivate their own philosophy and principles of life or follow the already created ones, differ from the rest by their external attributes (hairstyle, makeup, clothing). This is how youth subcultures are formed, of which there are a huge number in modern society. Some of them are engaged in socially useful things, others are engaged only in themselves, while others are generally antisocial and even potentially dangerous. The following subcultures are most common in modern society.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the oldest but still popular subcultures is the hippie. They preach freedom in all forms (from inner freedom to free love), pacifism, strive for independence, creative realization. Outwardly they look bright, they wear jeans, loose T-shirts, vests. Both women and men wear long hair, bright baubles on their hands. They can leave home and travel almost without means of subsistence, in the summer they live in tent cities.
Step 2
Rastafarians or Rastafarians are similar to hippies and close to them in philosophy. Modern rastamans, especially in Russia, do not live according to the principles that were initially promoted by the rastamans. They just listen to reggae music, they love Bob Marley, they do dreadlocks, they wear a red-yellow-green hat and have a negative attitude towards Western culture subordinate to material values.
Step 3
Emo culture is popular among younger youth. The name of the culture is derived from the word "emotional" and reflects the emotionality of the adherents of this movement. Adherents of the subculture are called emokids. They have a striking appearance: long oblique bangs, heavily bent eyes, piercings, black and pink clothes, black varnish, many bracelets and badges. They strive for self-expression, but are often perceived as vulnerable, depressed, whiny teenagers. It is also believed that these guys are prone to suicidal behavior.
Step 4
Young people who love life and at the same time constantly risk it because of the pleasure they receive are called extremals. This includes various areas of extreme sports: rollers, parkourists or tracers, skateboarders, etc. Even graffiti artists who run the risk of being caught can also be included in this group. Their clothing style is usually sporty, free, and may resemble a rapper.
Step 5
The philosophy of the lost generation is close to one rather old subculture - punks. Their slogan that there is no future determined their position: nothing can be corrected, and therefore you can put an end to life. It will not be difficult to recognize a punk crowd - a mohawk on a cropped head, torn and dirty clothes. They often go to parties with a huge amount of alcohol, drugs and fights. Initially, the movement was born out of a love for punk music.
Step 6
Quite a lot in common with the punks of the Goths. At first, this subculture developed due to an addiction to gothic music, but then its own philosophy appeared. They perceive themselves as opponents of bad taste, variegation and mass consciousness, and therefore choose black color in their clothes, the symbolism of death as a reminder of life, and hiking with friends to the cemetery. Outwardly, Satanists are often confused with them, who are dangerous to society, since they support violence against people and sacrifice.
Step 7
Another subculture is considered dangerous for society - skinheads. Already by their name, one can understand that a shaved head is a feature. They preach the cult of a strong personality, the ideas of National Socialism and anti-Semitism. They hate adherents of other "bright" subcultures: emo, hippies, majors, rappers, as well as people of a non-European type, they beat them up. Most often, such a youth group is headed by a mature person with pro-fascist views.
Step 8
Another similar group, but without ideology as such, are the Gopniks. Usually these are guys from the outskirts of the city, engaged in petty robberies, thefts, hooliganism, etc. These are disadvantaged representatives of modern youth who use slang words, profanity in their speech, imitate persons who have served their sentences in prison. The appearance is usually unkempt: tracksuit, black leather jacket, cap. They are aggressive towards people oriented towards Western life principles.
Step 9
The role-playing movement has become a fairly new phenomenon in modern culture. These are young people who gather in large groups and play role-playing games. The philosophy is quite simple to explain: if you cannot change the real world, invent your own, believe in it and change it. They also include Tolkienists, guys participating in historical reconstructions, to some extent anime people, even barbie girls. Anyone who plays a character, albeit not all the time, can be classified as role-playing.
Step 10
Another subculture that older people become adherents is bikers. Unlike ordinary motorcyclists, for bikers their bike is a part of life. Lovers of rock, beer and motorcycles are always recognizable in the crowd: leather jacket, jeans or leather pants, bandanas, tattoos. They gather in large groups at festivals and on night roads.
